Ah. Oh well. Still loving the art. I'm really digging the older lady's design. She has the looks of someone who would have been a sour, unpleasant person in a more cliche strip, but I love that she's played so kind and helpful here, and somehow that makes the design endearing.

I was wondering why a late 70s comic had such an old-timey design, so I looked up the artist. Whoa! He was the guy who did Wash Tubbs! I remember reading a compilation reprint of his strips and being floored by the intense action and unflinching grim and gritty tone.
