Unfortunately this is what you would get in a small town in Spain for that money. And you will only find old folks in local church.

Yes that is one of our findings

To some extent, yes. The problem is that consequences are long term and most business leaders operate short term. I

Our study shows that who is unhappy—and when—matters.
If public opinion around pricing turns sour among scientists, policymakers, or the public, the financial risks are real.

So, does “bad ethics pay”?
Sometimes, in the short run. But not always—and it may hurt in the long term, especially when the right people are watching.

And what about the long term?
We found that firms facing less negative sentiment over time outperformed those with more public backlash.
Higher short-term returns don’t guarantee long-term success.

But not all stakeholders respond the same way.
When scientific or political news outlets express negative sentiment, firm performance drops.
These communities hold reputational and regulatory power—and their criticism can sting.

First, the short term.
When business, finance, and legal news outlets or Reddit users react negatively to drug prices, firm performance often goes up.
Why? These audiences may interpret it as a bold, profit-maximising move.

We analysed news and social media sentiment around drug pricing and matched it with financial data from pharma firms.
The goal? To see whether public outrage has financial consequences.

Muy interesante análisis de los retos de traducir filosofía al español de mi amigo @msanchezr.bsky.social

You’re absolutely right—it hasn’t gone mainstream yet. I believe our biggest conceptual enemy is the harmful false dichotomy between strategy and ethics. This has led business curricula to treat ethics as an afterthought rather than an integral part of strategy and profit maximisation.

Contrary to popular perception, that balance is already a big part of business education. We emphasise that maximising self-interest isn’t possible without restraint and consideration for others. Like many other groups, our reputation is often shaped by the more negative examples (sigh).

Absolutely. The European project should be more than a geographical reality.

Very interesting. I would add reducing the distance with students. It is tempting to shield yourself behind your status but in the end I think it damages engagement

Fascinating study on the importance of philosophical acumen in protecting us from pseudo beliefs: “it wasn’t education level ❌ per se that predicted immunity to pseudoscientific claims, but rather an understanding of the philosophy behind scientific inquiry.”
