Covalen Branch Statement – Fuel Protests and Economic Impact of Illegal US War on Iran
Workers are being hit hard by rising costs we did not create. While fuel protests highlight real anger, ordinary people continue to shoulder the burden of a crisis driven by global conflict and corporate profits.
That’s why joining DATA CWU matters. By standing together, workers can push for better protections, fair treatment, and real accountability from employers. Join today at datacwu.ie
This isn’t a sustainable solution to the housing crisis, and it raises serious concerns about fairness, dignity and working conditions.
No worker should have to accept poor living conditions just to access employment.
Workers arriving from abroad are often unaware of the true cost of living, only to find themselves in overcrowded housing, with eight to ten people sharing a home.

DATA (the Digital & Techworker Alliance) in the CWU has doubled its membership in the past year as tech workers organise for dignity, fair treatment, and a real voice at work.
Ireland’s tech sector isn’t the stable, protected space it once was.
Workers across the industry are dealing with layoffs, restructuring, outsourcing, and pressure from AI and new productivity demands.
The old idea that tech jobs don’t need unions is fading fast.
International Women’s Day began with working women organising for better pay, safer workplaces and a voice.
Built through solidarity, strikes and trade union activism.
Today we honour those who fought before us — and the power of workers organising together.
