Yesterday was good. Kiddo was at the in-laws and the weather was beautiful so we took Chopper for a walk in the woods, talked projects, and watched anime. Later we picked up the kiddo and went out to dinner for the first time in at least six months.
The post tax season deep breath was wonderful.
Genuinely wish I could count myself among the people in the world who have good relationships with their parents.
Got updates on them from my sister because she needed to vent and, yeah. Totally justified to have cut them off from me and my kid.

I have been WAITING for this for over a month!! Ginger is such a good broody and Bob, asshole that he may be, is an amazing good dad. Can’t wait for the other eggs to hatch! 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

Nice to know that if the random cats running around here aren’t gonna do their job taking care of the mice at least my birds will.
There’s still a lot of work I want to put into this coop but this has been part of what I’ve been up to the past few years. Besides the whole raising a human thing.

Yep. His new favorite thing. He did it again yesterday evening after Tinyflame came home so I got to tell her she had a visitor. The excited “It’s Bob!” followed by “Bob is my best friend.” makes keeping his surly ass worth it.
It’s apparently his new favorite thing. I was walking to the kitchen and literally jumped and yelled “DAMMIT BOB!” because suddenly there his is again. 🙄
Unexpected consequence of introducing Tinyflame to Pokémon:
The creation of the “Come on Brock!” game which involves Tinyflame telling Jason to get on his hands and knees then grabbing his ear and dragging him around the house while going “Come on Brock!”

My cat collection now consists of 1 shelter cat and a horde of barn/feral cat babies because PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY ARE FUCKING IRRESPONSIBLE.
My cats? Inside. If they got out somehow? They’d come home for food at some point with no surprises because they’re FUCKING FIXED!!!!

Honestly the highlight of yesterday was when Tinyflame got told it was my birthday, told me happy birthday, then asked Jason to sing too before signing “Happy Birthday to Mommy.” unprompted.

Well it’s a new year so naturally I’m going to make the goal to interact with friends more and then putter out some time in February convinced that no one really cares to hear from me so I’ll just be a little creeper instead mentally sending love on everything they post.

It’s been over a year since my parents have seen my kid in person.
They live 40 minutes away. They haven’t asked to see her. Not even on a video call.
Apparently they still think it’s MY job to make sure they have a relationship with their grandkid.
Yeah…no. My job is to raise her. Not them.
