Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy and Long-Term Risk of Dilated Cardiomyopathy This population cohort study uses multiple linked UK electronic health records to examine whether hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are associated with long-term risk of dilated cardiomyopathy.

UK population-based cohort study including 14 083 patients with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
HDP associated with a doubling of the risk of developing dilated cardiomyopathy. Risk was increased with severity of preeclampsia, older maternal age & postpartum hypertension.

Risk of Major Congenital Malformations Following Prenatal Exposure to Smoking Cessation Medicines This cohort study examines whether prenatal use of smoking cessation pharmacotherapies is associated with increased risks of major congenital malformations.

Smoking cessation drugs in pregnancy: large cohort study of 1st trimester exposure shows no significant increased risk of congenital malformations with nicotine replacement & varenicline. (similarly no increased risk for buproprion but limited data)

Hundreds of research grants at Columbia canceled following Trump edict, administrator says The National Institutes of Health is terminating 232 grants for scientific research at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, according to an email an administrator sent to faculty.

I received one of the 232 NIH grant "terminations" sent to scientists at Columbia last night. My research focuses on improving maternal and child health in the US. Also affected: ongoing clinical trials, research training programs, and research centers that aim to improve the health of Americans.

I like this, will try! I usually give a 1-2 hr trial of vasopressin. There are definitely vasopressin responders and non-responders - I view it as replacing a hormone deficiency rather than acting purely as pressor.
