A number of space science organizations offered support for Isaacman's nomination because he is a proponent of space exploration and claimed he would support science. But now that science is on the chopping block -- and human spaceflight isn't -- he is volunteering to give NASA the DOGE treatment.

Robert Caro sitting on the “Robert Moses wrote smut” reveal for 800+ pages in Power Broker is the kind of discipline I will never achieve
i will never forget how elon musk said absolutely nothing at all about the NASA artemis ii mission except one post making fun of that women who took the photo of the launch in the reflection of her glasses. he hates space
If you’ve been moved & inspired by Artemis, NASA needs your help. Literally during A2, the president proposed cutting NASA science 47%, canceling 54 missions, including many already in-flight. To help stop these cuts, check out @planetarysociety.bsky.social www.planetary.org/save-nasa-sc...
whenever people announce they're taking a break from bluesky, it's usually because they're astronauts experiencing a mandatory communications blackout as they re-enter earth's atmosphere. that's why they always come back in six minutes
‘Nominal’ is such a good word.
As far as I know there is literally no reason for this, it is just an incredibly lucky coincidence that we get to enjoy for free
What movie and what video game? Most important info
This is a very odd aspect to the Artemis mission. The astronauts themselves still speak of being proud of the diversity of the crew - the agency, not so much.
Hard to overstate how obvious this was in Minneapolis. They'd roll around the neighborhood in full gear, doing nothing immigration-related at all, wait for angry crowds to gather, and then attack them with tear gas and pepper spray! It was a violent siege and the feds owe us billions in reparations.
This is zuck one month after going on Rogan podcast claiming he would never takedown content based on government requests ever again
Mayor Jacob Frey vetoed the eviction moratorium city council put through to help our vulnerable neighbors. We are entering our 4th month of occupation and our community has donated time and money to keeping us safe and housed. Please join us in these efforts if you can, any relief is so welcome
FWIW absolutely no one I know who has expertise in spaceflight or planetary exploration thinks this is either remotely plausible or a good idea to attempt on such a timeline. The dominant reaction is somewhere on the spectrum between mockery and dismay. Real, important science was cancelled for this
This is an effort to turn the Minnesota rapid responders into criminals. If Democrats make this deal, they will send me, and many others like me who have been out protecting the community, to jail.
The judge ordering this, John Burns, has denied >99% of asylum cases that have come before him. Appointed by Bill Barr. Operation Metro Surge has not ended, and the battle in the courts is just beginning
One of the terrible things about the ICE occupation of Minneapolis is that they’ve been doing stuff that is so crazy that people assume it’s some kind of exaggeration, despite being widely documented on video. Following observers home! Lurking outside elementary schools! Black-bagging citizens!
By the way, for those of you not in MN: Homan’s strategy was to withdraw some agents, so it felt like we were in the denouement of the crisis, and then escalate hard against observers. They’re being incredibly aggressive with observers now. National media may not want to check out just yet
At the Alex Pretti memorial this afternoon, people are unfurling four very large banners.
They read, "How many more will ICE murder? How many more funerals? How many more...how many more?"
Protests happen, but most of what is happening in Minneapolis isn’t protesting.
More accurate terms:
- observers
- witnesses
- volunteers
- neighbors
- residents
- people
Seward, Minneapolis
Not just Uptown, all over Minneapolis. We just got back from ours up in Seward, more neighbors were still joining with additional candles as we were walking home
There has been an increasing sense in Minneapolis that we are on our own, that our elected representatives are unwilling and/or unable to take action to get these murderous Nazi thugs out of our community. I really hope that changes today. The time for pleading TV hits ended weeks ago.
Only speaking personally, but today’s execution isn’t scaring me from protecting our neighbors, as some suggest is ICE’s goal. Nor am I angry with incandescent rage, in that I know such rage is unhelpful. Rather, I feel like it has forced me to truly accept that the same fate might befall me.
in case you're curious about how angry Minnesota is about ICE, it was -20 today
ICE just crashed a car at my intersection (due to their own shitty driving) and immediately got out and tear gassed observers.
View from inside was even better
I love my city
Downtown Minneapolis right now. Cannot see the end of the crowd in any given direction. -10 degrees and won’t be deterred
One of the reasons I am so insistent that everyone remember that only 22% of the US population voted for Trump is that the Christian Nationalists want the myth of a mandate in circulation.
We need to reject it. They never had a mandate, and their coalition is shrinking.
