This former torture and detention center sits on Avenida del Libertador, one of Buenos Aires' main avenues. I got chills when I passed it at night heading home after class—not hidden, not remote, just right there in plain sight. Today marks 50 years from the golpe: www.nytimes.com/2026/03/24/w...

Happy to share I am tenured& promoted at ASU. I feel very privileged as a human rights scholar, particularly in this current climate, to have my work recognized in this way at a university championing inclusive education. I'm grateful to do what I do where I do & looking forward to what lies ahead.

Big news from me: now out @SPPQJournal: I bring together policy diffusion and judicial politics literature to analyze why courts rely on other courts’ decisions. I show that state supreme courts learn from and do not emulate one another, but the mechanism is policy-specific. doi.org/10.1017/spq....

Excited to share my latest coauthored rational design of international law research, out now in the Journal of Human Rights: “Do human rights treaty obligations matter for ratification?”

Yes! States are less likely to ratify treaties with more demanding obligations. doi.org/10.1080/1475...

I'm thrilled my article "Empowering your victims: Why repressive regimes allow individual petitions in international organizations" is published at Review of Intl Organizations!

I find repressive govs allow petitions bc intl demand but there are domestic costs.

Hi polisky! I often get inquiries from Latin American journalists looking for a quote or comment on U.S. politics (e.g., motion for McCarthy to vacate). I cannot always field these. Who would like to be recommended? You need to be fluent in Spanish & use WhatsApp.
