like, every Nintendo game of the N64 era is held together by duct tape. The Zeldas, mainstays of Best Game Ever lists in the US, have some of the most insane event systems I've ever seen.

But they shipped. Game design trumps coding quality if you can ship the damn thing.

it's funny because all of those pieces are true and it still runs leaps and bounds around everything else around it at the time. SM64 is held together by duct tape with an engine that is falling apart at the seams but the game *works*.
