The Party Should Throw Them a Party A proposal for how to build a more durable Democratic coalition

Today I was reminded of this @resnikoff.bsky.social piece, and it hits *so damn hard* after slogging through the @michigandems.bsky.social endorsement convention yesterday ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿซ . Imagine if events like that were actually fun, not just ... an obligation.

Mr. Makled has a lot of work to do to convince the voters of Michigan that he's the right guy for the job. It won't be easy. But I think it's possible.

But, for tonight at least, I'm celebrating. Good f***ing riddance.

And as for antisemitism, well, Acker loved to claim that any critique of his behavior was "antisemitism", a move that cheapens a very real threat and makes us all less safe. He's the boy who cried wolf.

But a few ill-advised tweets (that Makled at least had the self awareness to delete *before* they became a scandal) don't equal Acker's years-long in-office history of being a loose cannon, an asshole, and a sex pest, among other things.

I actually did waver on this over the last week, what with the hit pieces on Amir Makled's twitter history. When somebody crosses over into actual antisemitism, at some point I've got to actually think about self preservation...

The City's Emergency Manager, who I support, did public engagement, which I support, to decide the fate of outdoor warning sirens, which I support. Most people want to keep the sirens, which I support, and the City decided to keep them, which I support. Mayor Taylor ought to be ashamed! #a2council

Is there an annotated version of the charter that tells you which provisions are dead? (i.e. because they were superseded by state law, court rulings, or other charter amendments?)

Well... guess I should be a little more forgiving when an actual, confirmed EF-1 tornado went directly through my neighborhood last night ๐Ÿคฏ

#A2Council the Bigfoot triplex concern is not real. The text amendment the land trust offered doesnโ€™t allow for any larger building than what is currently legal. A Bigfoot triplex is better than a Bigfoot mansion if we actually think housing is important.

Facebook post from Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor about last night's storms. I've highlighted a sentence that says:

"We planned on making the announcement on Monday with the release of the Administrator's budget, but so folks know now, after public input, we are going to continue to maintain our siren system."

MDOT is considering bus lanes on Washtenaw Ave in Ann Arbor!!! This would be huge for all of Washtenaw Co., as TheRide's 4/104 are the most frequent buses in SEMI.

Come to the open house on the 16th and submit your comments to MDOT for bus lanes!
