Huh. Why isn't Greece or Bulgaria doing better? Lack of investment? They have more sun but maybe it takes more than that.

100% - better set dressing makes every encounter better. And it's shocking that sometimes published adventures that want money will just make players fight on featureless plains.
this is actually the most accurate part of what it's like to finish a half-marathon
I know it's a joke, but basically the CBC
a little voice inside my head said "don't look back, you can never look back"
People on here are going to be mad.
KQED published a piece on why housing in the Bay Area is expensive.
And it doesn't mention PRIVATE EQUITY or BLACKROCK.
Instead it blames... communities! /1

The new season of Hacks in incredible holy shit
People* one again complaining about being incredibly wealthy because taxes exist!
* baby boomers owning houses in California

This show was deeply underappreciated! That's how you break the fourth wall!
BREAKING: Following the American threat of an “Avignon Papacy,” Robert Kennedy has begun a Diet of Worms
This reaction is the only one that truly captures the essence of the original skeet
That said in Canada your primary residence is exempt from all capital gains federal taxes! Canada, once again, the place where bay area boomers would rather be.
The people profiled in the article are sitting on $2-4M in real estate gains. Thus their complaint about the paltry tax exemption. Because where is the money going to come from to pay those taxes??
They just sold their house for $4M - where are they supposed to get $1M for TAXES? THEY'RE NOT MILLIONAIRES
But they'd have to pay taxes on a profit.
They'd have to PAY. TAXES.
I mean, you can see how insane that sounds.
I understand that journalists are just supposed to report what interviewees say, but man, someone could push back a tiny bit here on the unbelievable innumeracy going on.
In a few years when I retire I'll sell my California house, make a huge profit and pay a bunch of taxes on it. Then I'll buy a new house that's smaller and worth less. I don't see what's so hard to understand about this plan.
Americans are so weird.

These people say they won't/can't move because they'd owe taxes on their home sale.
News flash - if you make a $4M profit, you can pay the $1M in taxes! What is so hard about this? That you can't keep every single cent from the sale?
2.5km on a TTC streetcar is absolutely not guaranteed to be faster than walking.
The cover of REMONSTERED! THE MONSTERS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING: Five adventurers—a dragonborn paladin, a forest gnome barbarian, an orc druid, a tiefling bard and a goliath sorcerer—are fighting a rakshasa in the richly appointed office of a royal adviser. On the rear wall is a portrait of a handsome, mustachioed human who wears the exact same robes of honor as the rakshasa. The rakshasa is savagely tearing into the paladin's throat with its claws. The look on the paladin's face is of someone unexpectedly confronting his own mortality. The shellshocked barbarian looks like she's about to drop her absurdly oversize axe; the bard and the sorcerer are clearly terrified, holding their weapons limply. The druid, on the other hand, looks resolute, angry and unafraid.
Times have changed. The old rules no longer apply. Our foes have grown in strength. We must adapt.
Don't worry. I gotchu.
With updated tactics and brand-new tips for every monster, REMONSTERED! THE MONSTERS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING comes out this Oct. 6. Preorder at bookshop.org/a/511/9.... #DnD
Kind of nuts that over 200 people have joined the #FakeTTRPGJam with still nearly a week left before it officially starts. Come on through if you wanna get esoteric with it itch.io/jam/you-cann...
BackerKit is currently running both Orbital Blues Month and Megadungeon Month IN THE SAME MONTH and honestly this just seems like poor planning.

I genuinely believe the lack of seasons changes people's brains out here
