Sometimes I find it weird that I don't try to make more records, but really live music has always been the peak version for me. Don't get me wrong, I love records lol I own a dumb amount of them, but playing and watching live music is just the thing that I love the most.

Played two really enjoyable shows this weekend. Lots of different approaches to making sound, from the delightfully odd and unusual to simple expert shredding of one instrument or another. Not a single person put out anything for sale, or at least that I saw. Pure love of the game. Good shit.

Looking forward to it. Thankfully they did not kick us off the bill after watching us play last night.

The original Slint one

Someday I need to post my remix somewhere of this song. It kind of takes the opposite approach of highlighting the payoff. It is of course generally not cool to post other people's music but I did take quite a few liberties hah hah.

I am surprised we are playing the show and it is just an hour away hah hah. But, it is an easy drive and nice spot to play. It was also very nice to be asked.

This Black Circle Revolution show is up until tomorrow night. Listening again and it rules. Lots of good punk/weird rock & roll. It's too bad Erin isn't doing a show very often but she's a busy person so something had to give. This is a delight though:

I want to also stress that I fully believe it is fine to like whatever you like including popular bands and rock music, whether they are beneficiaries of "successful" PR campaigns or not. Good bands suffer and succeed in all kinds ways and when they find you and work for you it is good.

I had this thought due to the "psyop" article going around and it brought me right back to my exact state of mind when all the big stories/narratives about the NYC "saviors of rock" rolled out in 2001 or whenever. The saviors of rock are in any place your ears want them to be.

Never imagine that the "saviors of rock and roll" exist anywhere at all. Rock doesn't need saving and if you don't think there are good rock bands to listen to maybe the issue isn't that there are not good rock bands. This is a dumb post there is no need to indulge me lol.

Going to bump this cool show coming up again for those on an alternate timeline

I had forgotten that this band existed (though I never verified that they did by actually listening to them). I wish them ill wherever they are.

This will be a very good time. Some lovely people in these bands making truly unique, odd, and delightful things happen in small rooms around the country for many years. Lifers of the best variety.

Flyer for a show at Visible Records on Friday, April 24 at 8pm. The bands playing are Choppers Choice, Buck Gooter, and Dais Queue Ensemble. All ages, $10-15 suggested donation (but no one turned away for lack of funds). 1740 Broadway Street in Charlottesville, Virginia. The image for the flyer is a collage of images of space / celestial bodies and an abstract pattern cutting vertically down the center of the page.

Another show coming up at Visible Records! Choppers Choice is the new band of Colin Langenus (USAisaMonster etc.!) & Matthew Clark (Ostinato, tons of stuff) w/ a many armed crew of weirdo sound makers joining in. Only their second ever show! Plus VA underground legends Buck Gooter & DQE guitar spew.

Got to see this band with Mary Halvorson in the place of Ava Mendoza. Was a very very good show. A real joy to watch Susan and Mary play off of each other.
