These days, I think a lot about Goodhart’s Law:

“When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure".
We have all been press-ganged into chasing the wrong things - debasing ourselves for metrics.
It’s so fucking sad.
Saw it last night at the PCC.
Still mindblowing ❤️

* How do we expand the edges of an established genre?
* How do audiences react when genre traditions are subverted / profaned?

What a beautiful building on the right! I was caught off guard by the giant Rasputin-like face in the negative space.

This is wonderful.
Won’t it be nice when *it happens*, and the whole world can party in the streets, chanting “it’s over!”.
Exactly that, yes
Its clobberin’ time!
Horrendous makeup, not helped by Guy Pearce walking like Brains from Thunderbirds.
Sorry, no, TikTok is surely worse, but it’s CLOSE.
Especially as IG is entirely based on visual spectacle. It’s the single worst vessel we have for meaningful discourse.
It’s like a ruptured sewer pipe that sometimes expells a few newspaper pages.

Max Von Sydow was this old for my entire lifespan
Reminded me of this stone cold classic:

Bar chart comparing the ratio of new visual information to processing/reflection time across five frame rates (60, 30, 24, 12, and 1 fps). At 60 fps, the bar is entirely orange, indicating the frame is filled with new visual information and no processing time. As frame rate decreases, the orange portion shrinks and the dark grey "processing/reflection time" portion grows. At 1 fps, the bar is almost entirely dark grey, with only a sliver of orange, showing that nearly all of the frame's time is available for processing and reflection.
There is a flawed assumption that fluidity "increases audience immersion" and is therefore a universal good.
I think the inverse is actually true: lower frame rates afford audiences time to THINK in the gaps between new visual information.
We should cater to audiences instead of force-feeding them

Oh damn - I just remembered that I added a little bloom when I exported the video, I'm lying about only using 8 colours.

The moon, photographed from Artemis II, looking like a dusty prop in an old scifi movie.
Futurama image: Fry squinting...
A miniature model of the moon with text extruding from the surface, it reads "MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATRE 3000"
Incredible pic from Artemis II.
