What are your problems with his record?

It seems like the two central Texas seats were data errors. Sad. Still a pretty good Democratic performance, though.

Trump won the district in 2024, but in the primary yesterday, there were more votes cast for Democrats than Republicans.

Primary turnout isn't determinative, of course, but all of these states similar baseline reasons to turn out on both sides (competitive Senate on both sides in Texas, noncompetitive top of the ticket in NC). So, this is a good measure of partisan enthusiasm.

Which party had better primary turnout?

red = Trump/Rs
blue = Harris/Ds
green = Trump/Ds

purple = no data (NC does not report uncontested primary results, and I didn't feel like calculating them)

The other thing is the margin in Dallas County from those two extra hours isn't close to being enough to flip the statewide tally.

I was at the Dallas County Democrats watch party tonight and honestly didn't see much hostility at all between Talarico and Crockett supporters. This feels like very much an online thing when everyone irl just wants to win the general now.

You ever been to Texas?

If it's a questionable claim then yeah you should try to verify it, and if it doesn't check out, remove it. You learn to see which ones are iffy, it's pretty rare but I've definitely caught a good few.

That is indeed how primaries work.

No? White Californians vote blue too.

tbf a swing this big would flip Utah, but yeah, it's not possible to just make an election be low-turnout for the other side.

This feels a bit misleading. Obama spoke at it too.

If we're losing double-digit Harris seats there's no way we're winning the house majority.

It's literally just the title of a podcast episode. It's not him arguing "James Talarico is the right way to be a Christian" or whatever these people think it is.

I'm sure Klein would have Warnock or Crockett on his podcast too! This is such a weird criticism.

Congestion pricing was the beginning of the end for this wicked administration. Their overreach there is what sparked the "No Kings" protests, the largest single-day protests in American history.

I wouldn't say it's "betraying all his principles", it's just him being naive.

Marohn is correct about car dependency being bad but otherwise is too focused on localism.

You didn't provide any links for this, so I didn't have anything to respond to.

Idk I'm not sure that's totally true. I guess maybe it is with totally unrestricted capitalism?

If an anti-trans group is challenging a restriction on free speech, it's likely FIRE will join them. Likewise, if a pro-trans group is challenging a restriction on free speech, it's likely FIRE will join them too! Their goal is the free speech, not being anti-trans.

I don't agree with everything here but it certainly doesn't make me think the org is anti-trans.

LAWSUIT: Texas bans the First Amendment at public universities after dark FIRE filed a lawsuit today to stop enforcement of a new, unconstitutional law that turns every public university in Texas into speech-free zones.

FIRE is not a right-wing org! They have defended people on the left! For example they've been doing a lot to push back against Texas Republican overreach. (e.g. www.thefire.org/news/lawsuit...)
