Some say it's an #EarthDay miracle... but we know that it is directly because of the IMPACT EACH OF YOU MADE for Endangered Species in the United States. The so-called Endangered Species Act Amendments Act has been pulled form the House Floor today directly due to the outpouring of opposition.

16 years after BP’s Deepwater Horizon disaster killed 11 and devastated the Gulf, we're suing over approval of BP’s ultra-deep Kaskida project - riskier and potentially more destructive. The suit cites major safety gaps and underestimates of worst-case spill impacts. seaturtles.org/lawsuit-tirn...

Good news from last week’s action alert: The vote on H.R. 1897 (the so-called ESA Amendments Act of 2025) has been delayed thanks to swift public advocacy! This harmful bill would gut critical wildlife protections and allow industries to bypass key safeguards meant to protect vulnerable species.

Ocean Program Director, Joanie Steinhaus, is in D.C. this week with a group of deeply concerned coalition partners about the negative effects that oil drilling has, and will continue to have, in the Gulf of Mexico! We’re asking federal officials to stop the drilling, people & planet over profit.

Trump Admin's so-called “Extinction Committee” (the renamed Endangered Species Committee or now “God Squad”) approved a shockingly monstrous plan to strip protections from endangered wildlife in the Gulf of Mexico – putting Big Oil and Gas ahead of vulnerable marine species and coastal communities.

Millions of hatchery salmon face ‘deadly’ low water flows in warm Sacramento River Coleman Hatchery released 6.2 million young salmon into a low‑flow Sacramento River, prompting urgent calls for extra Shasta Dam releases.

6.2M+ young Chinook salmon were released into the Sacramento River, but hot temps and low flows could threaten survival. Despite full reservoirs, little extra water was released. Ken Bouley notes hatchery fish are “less genetically fit,” with survival often under 50%. www.sacbee.com/news/politic...

Trump Administration Approves Ultra-Deepwater Oil Drilling Plan

The Trump administration approved BP's Kaskida oil drilling project despite vocal public opposition and numerous red flags in the company's proposal.

Kaskida has the potential to spill up to 4.5 million barrels of oil in the ocean, threatening Gulf coast communities and ecosystems.

A Rice's whale seen from above, surrounded by calm, blue water. A text box in the upper-left corner reads "Save these whales from the extinction committee".

Rice's whales are protected under the #ESA but now stand in the way of Trump's oil-industry cronies.

So the Dept of the Interior is convening a meeting of a panel of high-ranking government officials — best described as the Extinction Committee.

Turtle Island Restoration Network 🚨 ICYMI there's an urgent and dangerous precedent unfolding at the hands of our current administration. This past Friday, Donald Trump signed an executive order expanding the use of the Defense...

Trump signed an E.O. expanding the use of the Defense Production Act to fast-track energy projects under “national security.” The impact was immediate - Sable Offshore Corp. restarted drilling off of CA, reviving a pipeline that ruptured in 2015 and caused one of the state’s worst oil spills.

Quick math: ConocoPhillips generated 218 million metric tons of CO2 in 2023 from the products they sold (equivalent to 47 million cars on the road). That's 12x their total operational emissions, and removed their 2050 net-zero deadline. Tell us again about 'responsible energy.' #NoArcticLicense

Why BP’s Kaskida Project Is a Recipe for (Yet Another) Disaster The offshore oil drilling project would push into riskier, deeper waters than the infamous Deepwater Horizon rig.

BP, the same company behind the Deepwater Horizon disaster, the worst oil spill in U.S. history, is now seeking approval for
an even deeper drilling project in the Gulf called "Kaskida."

This is an unacceptable threat to Gulf communities, ecosystems, and the climate.

Geologist @deepseadawn.bsky.social reminds us, "everything is interconnected... we are a part of the ocean – not separate from it." What happens 7 miles down could affect the air we breathe and the food we eat. #DefendTheDeep, dive in to this important piece to get started. Action alerts incoming!
