Twenty-nine people have died in ICE custody since October, the start of the federal government's fiscal year, already surpassing 2004's toll of 28, the previous record, according to government data. n.pr/4sLetjV
Another good day, and fiddle tunes always fit on Friday. I know some folks will go with Charlie Daniels but to me the fiddling GOAT is Mark O'Connor. This entire track is glorious but the crescendo to finish seems physically impossible.

WOW
LaMelo made a clutch shot and no one saw it, could not script this shit
This is such a cool paper, but IMO the coolest part about it is the group that came together to write it.
When I first started at @kbslter.bsky.social one of the things I wanted to see happen was more collaboration between KBS, Cedar Creek, and my hometown LTER at Konza. And now this group exists! 🥳
Awww thank you for the shout-out Seraina but the best part about this group was after the start y'all organized yourselves quite nicely 😁 such a cool effort to be a part of, super proud of everyone on the team!
Tomorrow! I’ve seen most of the art for the show & I am hella excited for this show! Pull up.
Now that everyone’s paying attention to global energy markets and effects of faraway events on prices and decision-making, is it a good time to talk about the indirect land use effects of dedicating cropland to biofuel production or nah?
There is a project funded at MSU to look into the feasibility of just for that different cropping/livestock systems!

"no stupid rules of engagement"
If America still had the rule of law, this would be the easiest prosecution ever, but we all know absolutely nothing will happen.
Everyone knows the good Kermit, too few know the story of the bad Kermit.
I'm amazed that I've seen or heard no mention of this all day, but 75 years of chaos -- and often killing -- in and around Iran and, arguably, around the Middle East all started when the United States caused regime change in Iran! www.history.com/this-day-in-...
Politico headline stating "White House officials believe 'the politics are a lot better' if Israel strikes Iran first"
FUCK these fucking creeps, man.
This is a quick one, but it makes me smile so I'll share.
Women like to slow dance
They like it for the romance
If you want to have a chance
You got to learn to slow dance
...but you sure as shit won't be slow dancing to this one

Map showing tens of thousands of protests across the US between Trump's inauguration last year and January 31, 2026.
The volume & geographic distribution of protest nationwide during year 1 of Trump's second term was extraordinary.
Legal LDF Pingts Fund Read a PDF of our statement here. Today, the Legal Defense Fund (LDF) announced it reached a settlement on behalf of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) challenging the U.S. Department of Education's anti-opportunity "Dear Colleague Letter," related "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) document, certification requirement, and EndDEl portal. The lawsuit alleged that the Department sought to prohibit and chill lawful efforts to ensure equal educational opportunities for Black students, and that its guidance rested on a legally flawed interpretation of Title VI and the Equal Protection Clause. Prior on April 24, 2025, LDF and the NAACP successfully secured a preliminary injunction against the certification requirement. The settlement follows the Trump Administration's decision to vacate its appeal in a related challenge. As part of the settlement, the Education Department agreed that it will no longer rely on the "Dear Colleague Letter" or its certification requirement, nor will it attempt to enforce or reinstate them under a different name. The Department also agreed not to use their "End DEl" portal or related FAQ document. The settlement also preserves the NAACP's preliminary injunction win, which recognized students' right to receive information free from vague prohibitions. The settlement affirms Black students' right to equal opportunity in classrooms and extracurricular activities, including access to inclusive and accurate curricula, selective programs, affinity groups, and policies that foster a sense of belonging.
Every uni/college that caved proven as craven cowards
“…DOE agreed…it will no longer rely on the "Dear Colleague Letter" or its certification requirement, nor will it attempt to enforce or reinstate them under a different name…DOE also agreed not to use their "End DEl" portal or related FAQ doc.”
Barstool Arizona gets off on hitting dogs, heard it here first!
Ah yes, the undeniable journalistic endeavors of...Barstool Arizona
My best decision this year was ignoring the noise and just enjoying the fuck out of these Kansas Jayhawks.
This is on Musk and he should be held accountable.
He's been an absolute force. Looks like a dude with legit NBA center size playing against college players.
Such a bummer.
RIP
And I thought the Chiefs offensive line looked bad in the Superbowl
At least we'll get a high draft pick after this year, right
I am not really into retweeting giveaways, but this combines one of my favorite hobbies with charity for a great cause, and so I'm happy to spread the word :)
Darryn Peterson had two points in the second half against Texas Tech. Then he hit these two shots in the final 90 seconds.
