What else are they even offering that people would still pay? This reads like “Netflix removes access to TV shows”

If we burn down enough data centers they’ll eventually stop building them.

In 2024, the Dig launched Thawra, a 19-part series on 20th century Arab radicalism.

We are now releasing the Thawra digital study guide, replete with readings, films, archival materials, & discussion Qs for collective or individual study.

People didn’t just throw away all their stuff on y2k. A 2000s dude still would have had to live with stuff from the 90s.

“If we don’t evacuate them we get accused of killing civilians”

Or you could just not bomb civilian areas.

I’m not sure I understand the issue here. It was already required for men to sign up for the draft. This just automates it. I’m against the draft entirely, but not sure why I should be upset specifically about it being automatic.

Unfortunately if you use a kindle (or any e-reader) for ebooks, bookshop is not the way. They require you to read the book in their own app.

We’ve met and exceeded all of our objectives? So all the bombing now is just for fun?

LOL you're right. I went back and looked and she never said she supported the genocide. In fact she never even used the word genocide. She did say she would continue sending weapons to Isreal though, so maybe despite what she said she actually did support the genocide. Would a genocider lie though?

To believe otherwise*

If things are worse now in Palestine, it’s because the trajectory of the genocide remained unchanged. I don’t believe the trajectory would have been different under Harris, and I’m going to need more than her claims of “working around the clock” to believe that.

In what way were they trying to end the genocide? I actually think sending weapons does equal not putting pressure. Also, in what way is the situation in Palestine better than what it would be under Harris? Why should I believe anything would be different?

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

No, it’s revisionist history to say they were putting pressure on Israel. They never stopped sending weapons and they refused to even consider conditioning aid. Biden said invading raffah was a red line but then Israel flattened raffah and Biden kept sending weapons.

If you actually think the leftist coalition that refused to vote for Harris after repeatedly and clearly announcing that intention are to blame for the outcome, why didnt Harris just stop supporting the genocide in Gaza?

Jokes on you. I’m vegan because I hate plants, not because I love animals.

You’re the one who made the connection between stealing from self checkout and prices going up.

2 weeks ago 7 0 1 0

Every grocery store throws more than edible produce into a dumpster each week than they lose through theft. You’re blaming the wrong people for high prices.

The great thing about self checkout, though, is that it magically turns everything into bananas.

Sure it is. If you refuse to enjoy anything that’s not perfect, you’ll spend a lot of your life being disappointed.

This is the main reason I don’t use AI to help with coding. Sure, copilot could do 90% of my work instantly but

1. Solving the puzzles in coding is why I enjoy it
2. Debugging that other 10% would be a nightmare if I don’t know why the other 90% was written as it was.

Even more infuriating is that the argument against the person that said “I want a lawyer, dawg” was that there is no such thing as a “lawyer-dog”.

Sure, I don’t know very much about these types of insurance. As long as the outcome is that bad cops can’t get hired because their insurance premium is too high.

4 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

Agree 100%. Cops should carry malpractice insurance just like doctors.

It's not a very long book, and I have a digital copy I would be happy to share with you if interested.

We definitely all have better things to do than debate strangers online, but I do feel that we were both arguing in good faith. I hope you feel the same. I would highly recomend you read "The end of policing" by Alex Vitale. That book is what changed my mind from supporting reform to abolition.

4 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

But here is why I am okay with saying idk what will replace every police function. Because we have tons of cops and a justice system that incarcerates more people than any other country, and those systems did nothing to stop Trump. And now he is in charge of those systems.

4 weeks ago 0 0 2 1

If your "reform" is more implicit bias training and reminders not to turn off your body camera, I don't support that because it's meaningless. If your reform is saying mental health calls will be handled by trained social workers and cops doing routine traffic stops are not armed I will support 100%

Sure, and I understand that it's unrealistic to expect police to be abolished all at once. I am not opposed to reforms as part of the pathway to abolition, but I am opposed to reform without structural change as the solution.
