They do a “last call for passenger XYZ” announcement then that plane LEAVES how is everyone inventing so many different types of airport situations lol it’s fairly consistent!!!

Sorry Will I’m with them on this one
Looks like the White House is laying the foundation in the public narrative to extend tonight’s “deadline” IMO.
I think it’s really important we do not lose sight of what this is—a massive departure from the historic norm against campaigning in foreign elections. We Do Not Do That. (Until, apparently, we do.) It sets a very, very bad precedent that I think is here to stay, at least under this administration.
Can you tell I’m obsessed with my friends

They also have to recognize laws on 501(c)(3) side about receiving donations from campaigns. Rules for nonprofits on this are tricky & if well-meaning candidate & nonprofit beneficiary aren’t careful on this, they could unintentionally endanger nonprofit’s 501(c)(3) status.
Yes, there's ways for campaigns to lawfully donate to recognized charities. But you have to check -> track -> report both the cash and in-kind contributions (donated items) received and then check -> track -> report the expenditures. The campaign is never a neutral/passive pass-through entity.
EXACTLY. Nobody is saying it's impossible for Abughazaleh's campaign to thread the (very narrow) needle here. But the cost-benefit analysis doesn't make sense. At BEST, it diverts resources from orgs equipped for this work to a campaign that will spend triple the donated item's value on compliance.
…. what.
That’s not how it works. Providing the space, staffing, putting out communications about it, coordinating logistics—what goes into “hosting a mutual aid hub”—has a value, and that value that has to be quantified and reported if it falls under the umbrella of campaign finance.
Yeah, c’mon y’all. I don’t always agree with Will and I think Kat is great! But campaign finance laws don’t become optional when we like the candidate! That’s how Trump and his people operate. Kat’s campaign may not have committed any violations but the template would make it an easy mistake.
Like, campaign finance laws exist because allowing a candidate to commingle contributions and expenditures with “unrelated” money is a BAD IDEA. Everyone mad about Citizens United would really be in for it. bsky.app/profile/stac...
