Evergreen advice for the new year from @laurapoole.bsky.social. My WOTY supports this, as I will "FOCUS" on my own needs first in 2026.

When I was being more active on social media professionally, Buffer was what I used to. It's pretty user-friendly and allowed me to post on multiple platforms. #ACESchat
How do you feel about posting a curated post on your preferred social media account (say IG) and having it automatically share to another, like Threads? Is it better to not share if the format doesn't cross over? #ACESchat
Gerri, We can start a TikTok channel together! I think it's all about the dance routines. ๐ #ACESchat
Be where your audience is. I'm still not sure I've nailed this one. #ACESchat
๐ฅฐ So called out. I might have to use this #ACESchat as an excuse for an update.
I found ACES back in 2016 when I attended a different org's conference. I've been a member since, gone to five or six in-person conferences, and joined the board just over a year ago. I'm so glad you found us and that you have gotten into editing as a career.
Agree with this! I am an editor first and a business person after, including marketing. It does not come naturally to me. #ACESchat
Hi Misti! Did you join after the ACES VCon or just stumbled across the #ACESChat?
Hello! Coming right up, I'll be talking about ways you can market yourself as an editor โ stuff you can think about whether you freelance or are established with a company. Chat soon! #ACESChat

The next #ACESChat is Marketing for Editors with Alysha Love on Wed, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. ET. Join us on Bluesky and bring your questions and experience. @alyshalove.bsky.social #editor #AmEditing
I can't say I read it as much as you do, but when I first saw it here I definitely thought, "Can you wear a baseball cap to Oval Office Friday?" Like it's casual Friday but for the Oval Office. So yeah, keep adding the "on."
There is little I love more than helping a writer get their best words ready for an audience. Can my #KeenEye help you with that? Reach out if you have a #memoir, #fiction, or inspiring #nonfiction book waiting for an #editor who will take excellent care of you and support your unique voice.
The cover of the book "Charms & Chapters" by Alexandra Rusch, with hand-drawn designs of hearts and leaves and a row of homes and shops in colorful illustration. End of description.
Cheers to Sandi Rusch on "Charms & Chapters," the sequel she never planned to write. Working on this meant a lot to me because she was gently given to me after her previous editor, our beloved mutual friend @NikkiBusch, passed away. I loved helping Sandi make it โa better book,โ as she said.
#ACESVCON25 and it's day 2! Today we delight in none other than the esteemed and charming @petersokolowski.bsky.social during his biannual musings on the English language. At least during VCon rather than IRL con (come to ATL!), he won't see me going all ๐ at his session. @acesediting.bsky.social
Also, @carolinavonkampen.com does the most epic live-skeets of our conferences. I highly recommend following her: bsky.app/profile/caro...
The keynote was by @librarianjones.com and most of us felt the ๐ and the ๐ฅ for what she (and all librarians) have been going through. I can wholeheartedly recommend following her on socials and getting her book (it's already on hold at my public library). Shoutout to @aacpl.bsky.social! #ACESVCON25
Ok, that Pun Slam was perhaps the best yet. I caught myself literally hooting out loud at some of the amazing puns. And I made a great choice to watch (but mostly listen) to the AP Style session while working on a jigsaw puzzle in my basement. Got my eyes off the screen a bit. #ACESVCON25
I'm excited for #ACESVCON25! If you'll be there, say hi! What are you hoping to learn? There is so much I'm looking forward to, but the Pun Slam is my favorite part of things, TBH. If you are an editor and you haven't heard about @acesediting.bsky.social, please let me tell you about it.
I missed the start window but I can edit for 30 more minutes before a call. Trying to power through a dense but really good academic copyedit. #EditorSprint
Give 'em the old razzle dazzle, my queen! #BaristaAtHome
This is so cool! Any #QueerSFF writers want to take advantage of this opportunity. These are fantastic editors. #WriterSky #SFF
That's a great idea, Steph. I do try to talk it out aloud, but I haven't thought to picture saying it to a friend.
I did okay. Took me a bit to settle in, but I'm glad I started it. Thank you!
I am! Going to start a new project, a manuscript evaluation of a big, juicy novel. #EditorSprint
Sweet timing. I made up for the first 15 minutes of the hour by going over, and I did well enough. Thanks for hosting!
I will also join (just late). Working on an academic copyedit right up until a 2:00 meeting. #EditorSprint
I've been tagged in the best chain mail ever: Recommend a "fun, low-stress book" and tag another copyeditor for theirs.
I devoured the first novella in a trilogy recently: "Full Speed to a Crash Landing" by @bethrevis.bsky.social (on audio).
Your turn @ink-and-insight.bsky.social!
First of all, ๐ฅ logo. Second, I wish I was a writer so I could join this amazing venture. I have some insider knowledge that it is going to become one of your favorite weeks of the year.
I don't really think of myself as a writer, certainly not a creative writer, but I'm feeling some writer's block just trying to come up with the perfect lines to suggest to an author during a #LineEdit! I'm glad it's only an idea to get them to think of alternatives, because this is hard.
