The concept of "magic systems" has done irreparable damage to fantasy fiction
"Well, I'm back" he said.
Over the last three months, I've keyed every hex in the bounds of the Shire, including rumors, nested random encounters, and five embedded mini-dungeons. I've collated them into a document, linked on the blog:
Among the gigantic stack of D&D books and modules I inherited from my godfather, I found what I was hoping for! One of his character sheets! You better believe Oz the Rainbow Bard has adventures in him yet. 🥲
For legal reasons, this is a joke.

Two miniatures sculpted by Tom Meier, and painted by me. They are grayish green trolls wielding wooden bludgeons.
Finally got around to painting those Ral Partha swamp trolls.
The cover of the book Haunted Castle by Leo Hartas.
Was it Haunted Castle by Leo Hartas? —it was the detailed castle illustration book I was obsessed with in elementary school.

Two Ral Partha metal miniatures—wind/air elementals—in really beat up old packaging with disintegrated foam cushioning.
The same miniatures out of the packaging. They look like buff old bald guys with tornadoes for legs. They’re holding their hands up to their mouths as if to direct their wind breath forward.
Found some Ral Partha in the wild. Can’t wait to paint them!
Volume one and two of the English language Ruin Explorers anime OVA VHS tapes.
Shout out to the hidden shelves in the back of comic book stores.
Me sitting on some steps backstage at an outdoor theatre with a large barrel painted to look like a stone well turned over my head. I’m attaching casters to the bottom so it can be rolled on stage.
Me as a Dark Souls NPC.
The box for the Gloom card game (second edition).
Got a chance to play Gloom for the first time since high school—it’s still one of my favorites. I think it’s the first game that made me question whether there even needs to be distinctions between RPGs and other types of tabletop games.

A 28mm pig faced orc miniature holding a two handed sword. It was sculpted by Kev Adams.
I’m giving up on the oil painting experiments for now. This one was just acrylic and it turned out way better than any I used oil on. The sword was my first time trying a non metallic metal effect.
Why do Japanese fantasy dungeons the same...but kobolds look like dogs?? How come elves are blonde over there too?? Come with us on this dive into the history of how fantasy got started as a genre in Japan! #ttrpg #d&d
(I swear I will be making videos about other countries soon)
Made some fungi following a tutorial from Gardens of Hecate! gardensofhecate.com/blog/miniatu...
Is there no video game equivalent to the OSR blogosphere? I’m genuinely surprised I wasn’t able to find a single obsessively detailed article comparing and contrasting the way armor works in multiple major JRPG series. I thought that would be page one.
Feeling inspired by Gardens of Hecate’s Nekroplanet!
I have three types of TTRPG Characters:
- Jessie
- James
- Meowth
