Morning, dove 🕊️

Entry for The Kingfisher, showing an engraving of the bird with detailed plumage, sitting on a stone at the water's edge. The description starts: 'This splendid little bird is of rather a clumsy shape, the head being large in proportion to the size of the body, and the legs and feet very small.'
An engraved scene showing a woman hanging out washing in a garden, with flowers and trees. Behind her, a procession of piglets and chickens have invaded the garden, walking muddy prints across washing that has fallen onto the grass.
A winged demonic figure crouches on a rock, watching a faraway crowd around a gallows. This tiny image is mentioned by Jane Eyre as she reads the book.
Our collections include this copy of Thomas Bewick's 'The History of British Birds', first published in 1797 and namechecked by Charlotte Bronte in 'Jane Eyre'.
Alongside the descriptions and images of birds are tiny, intricate vignettes: everyday scenes with flashes of humour or the macabre.
Happy birthday, Charlotte Brontë ❤️📚🪶

It's what happens when the salmon have been acting naughty ;)

These guys are so cool. Maybe my favorite bird camera of all the ones I watch? I've named the little fluffy chick "Cloud", in my head. ☁️ Albatr-awesome.
Aww, that's so cool, and such a magical spot for a nest! ✨🪹✨
Aww, how cool :) That reminds me of this charming post I saw the other day:

Awww, Pickle and Jellybean! ❤️❤️ Thanks for sharing, that was so sweet.
I haven't! 👀
Then I decided to go for a walk, and on my way home, one block from where I live, I saw this little guy. Never saw a hawk moth before in my life, that I can remember. I was stunned, and thought I was looking at a very tiny hummingbird, at first. Hi, little friend. Hi, universe.
It turns out they're not, and are only in the Americas. When doing that research, I stumbled across a Reddit post where someone said they thought they saw a hummingbird in South Korea once, but it was really a hawk moth (sometimes nicknamed a "hummingbird moth").
Just saw my first hawk moth a little while ago, and it's kind of a crazy coincidence! Earlier this evening I started watching a South Korean film called "House of Hummingbird", and I paused at it one point to research whether or not hummingbirds are native to South Korea.
