Flood risk reduction is the main goal, but we’ve also planted ~200 trees around the pond – oak, birch, hazel & dogwood – boosting biodiversity & providing habitat for birds, bats & other mammals, with help from 5 local volunteers 🌱 #NatureBasedSolutions #Biodiversity

The job of these NFM features? Hold back stormwater, store it temporarily, & release it slowly to ease downstream flooding. It won’t be crystal-clear, but storing runoff brings real ecological value for species that thrive in these conditions. #FloodResilience #WorkingWithNature
💧 Wetlands with jobs! Our Finmere NFM project shows nature working for people & wildlife. We built a flood-water retaining bund & attenuation pond to reduce flood risk, funded by the EA & built by JJ Brooks Ltd.
