It’s noteworthy that his commentary is the defense that the corrupt often use when they’re caught: attack the whistleblower. He’s lightyears away from being a disinterested party.

Happy to criticize the entire SCOTUS industrial complex. But this isn’t just any other difference of opinion on a decision. The memos are a foundational criticism of the Roberts court and esp. of the conservative wing. He was part of that. His very well paid professor position depends on it.
Not really what I said. This isn’t any clerk commenting on any issue. It’s a former clerk for one of the parties made to look bad by the story whose lucrative academic post is named after another one made to look bad. To me that’s more “conflict of interest” than “impartial expert.”
I don’t know about the ethics of lawyers, either. But IMO, the ethics of academic inquiry suggests that Sachs, Scalia prof of law and former clerk of the target of the article, is not an uninterested party in this fright and thus shouldn’t be given much credibility in the discussion.
I, professor at a public university, have to fill out a special form every year because my spouse works in the same university. Because maybe I’ll assign her book in my class and thereby profit from the less-than-$1 royalty per book.
I mean, it seems accurate that Trump didn’t bend the court to his will; Roberts and his allies bent themselves.
If your party leaders are worried by the news of a Hungarian autocrat’s electoral shellacking, it says a lot about your party.
Orban crushed.
Very good news for not only Hungary, but Europe — and all of us, in terms of global resistance to the far right
Here’s what to know: “the Trump administration and the Kremlin” are rooting for the same guy.
Same history, same outcome at UNC Chapel Hill. The university is now being sued because it won’t release the results of a publicly funded external review.

The President of the US is openly threatening genocide. Really praying there are some leaders high up in the military command who have the legal and ethical fortitude to resist this.
Thanks. Will have to look more into that. I teach international political economy and European politics, so these moments of variation are really useful prompts.
Any chance you can give a preview of that answer? I’m very curious!
Teaching students to ask a question, find and consider evidence, and craft and clearly articulate an argument is at the core of all teaching. It is a slow, messy, non-linear process, but a skill that can be taught. AI short circuits that learning. As Karamanis writes, failure is the curriculum.
How great is the war going? So great we don’t even need an Army Chief of Staff, that’s how great.
Solid analysis, Ben. (But that picture of a a taco and tostada looks distinctly, umm, British.)
Underestimates the graft of it it all.
In what world is it okay for the Defense Secretary to make multi-million dollar investments in defense companies:
a) Ever;
b) In the run-up to starting a war in the Middle East

In a functional democracy, he would offer his resignation tonight.
Alt headline: Stephen Miller wonders why Texas is passing up chance to create a still larger permanent underclass of black and brown people.
There’s a lot of good evidence that this administration is corrupt to its core.
Surely no group of people is happier to have Trump in office than the bunch of war criminals that made up the George W Bush administration. Even @theatlantic.com seems happy to forget he was literally the author of torture.
Like, THAT John Yoo?? Torture John Yoo? Extraordinary rendition John Yoo?
Just in time for ISA..
Iran is not being bombed right now.The only thing now that is making Iran bombed is that the US is bombing it. Should the US not bomb it, Iran wouldn’t be bombed right now.
Tuberville is jealous that he’s unable to sit cross legged on the floor and get back up. And racist. He’s also racist.
I see Colin Jost with a touch of Vince McMahon.
I wasn’t affiliated with V-Dem but I spent a year as a Fulbright scholar with the @qoginstitute.bsky.social housed in the same dep’t. What a remarkable place to do a postdoc! Collegial and intellectually stimulating atmosphere. And Gothenburg is a fun place to live! If you’re on the fence, apply!
Any chance we could see that reading list?!?
Any CEO that believes their product is an unqualified social good lacks vital critical thinking skills and should not be trusted.
