These results underscore the need for sex-specific considerations in designing interventions targeting alcohol use disorders following adolescent cannabinoid exposure
Moreover, we found altered 'psychological architectures' related to alcohol use induced by early cannabinoid exposure. Indeed, the interplay between reward-related behaviours and compulsivity varied based on cannabinoid exposure, emphasising differential effects of THC and CBD.
All of it with a sex-specific focus. Despite no significant effects on overall alcohol intake, female rats displayed heightened vulnerability to compulsive ethanol-seeking behaviours. In addition, the effects of naltrexone were potentiated in THC-exposed rats.
