Spent some time in April working on these adorable blackwork needle books. I’m so pleased with how they turned out!

These look great! I’m making my own slate frame, and should do likewise.

Finished up my student’s clock on Friday. C&C routered face, burned numbers, and an oiled sanding to finish it in danish oil. Very pleased with how it turned out!

A cropped close-up of the embroidery, which shows the details of the three trillium blossoms displayed in the chief. She has completed approximately 60% of the blue embroidery. The flowers will be embroidered in white cotton later.

I’ve been working on an embroidery project this week, and I’m really enjoying it. The methodical pattern of laying stitches is both very centering and very calming. Negative thoughts have no room to thrive when you have to pay a modicum of attention to the work at hand!

One finished edge of the clock. I laid it on a piece of black walnut to let you see the details more clearly.

Playing with wood again at work. This time, we rifled through the offcut bins, and prepped cherry, beech, purple heartwood, and mahogany to create a wall clock. It was an odd shape, so I hand drew an interesting design along the sides, to be cut out with the scroll saw. Stay tuned!

It’s a wonderful approach to life that I think the Danes and Norwegians really get right. Sometimes, noir mind really does need a warm, welcoming hug 🥰

I hate being so broke post-Christmas that I have to beg my friends to buy the stuff I make.

Thank you! Of course, I can see every single mistake I made, but I’ve learned from them, and that will be reflected in the next project.

Making good progress on the living room throw. This yarn is SUPER soft.

Thank you, Taliesin! Of course, I can see every mistake I made, but it’s a functional chessboard, and my son likes it, so that’s all that matters 😊

I haven’t made anything with wood since middle school; being in woodworking this semester gave me the chance to grow my skills, and when we drew names for our Handmade Christmas exchange, I knew exactly what I wanted to give my son the chess fan. Spent 2 months making this for him. He loves it!

Been crafting my little heart out lately. It’s made these two giant “chill pills” for a friend to give to her kids for Christmas (banana for scale).

Figured I should share some photos of the things I love doing. First up: shinrin-yoku (forest bathing).

This is the community forest closest to my home, and it is a favourite place for me to go to refill my emotional vessel. It is so peaceful and beautiful here.

Played elf at school today, delivering gifts for the staff gift exchange. It was pretty well received, and my student helper was great!
