Happy new Year!
We start the new year with some #AutoML content. In September, we had our annual AutoML school, as always, with amazing speakers. Some of the talks are now available online. You can find them via the AV portal of the TIB: av.tib.eu/series/1849
PS: No AI-generated Christmas image from me this year; since nearly everyone is doing it now, I stop doing it ;-)
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
It was a successful year for my group. Nevertheless, it also had its dark sides, losing valuable team members and not being as successful with grant proposals as I had hoped. Luckily, we are again on a good track now, and I'm hopeful for 2025.
Our MOOC on #AutoML is again online at the AI Campus. We needed to move to a new platform for the last two weeks, but now everything is done. Content-wise nothing changed, but we are already working on a revision of the course -- more updates soon.
Missing AutoML 24? We feel the same! 😢 But don’t worry - you can relive the highlights:

If you are now eager to attend the next #AutoML conference -- this time in New York! --, I have news for you: the call for papers is already online: 2025.automl.cc
See you in New York!
Roughly 3 months ago, we organized the 3rd #AutoML Conference in Paris. It was amazing and I still love to think back, awesome talks, deep discussions and great parties 🤩
Now, the final proceedings are online proceedings.mlr.press/v256/
and most of the talks: www.youtube.com/@automl_conf...

I talked about "Faster, Larger, More Sustainable?" today -- no worries, only the first slide had to be in German; all the others are in English. I covered some basic messages about how the AI field develops and how we could better connect to the chip community, incl. some provocative statements 😉
In my opinion, there is no point in building even larger GPU-HPC clusters -- should it get really even larger than 100.000 GPUs and their own nuclear power plant? That won't solve our scaling issues in the long run!
Many thanks to Oliver Bringmann (Uni Tübingen) for inviting me to the edaforum of the edacentrum GmbH. There is quite some gap between the #AI community and the #chip community, but we need to close this gap, if we really want to make real progress with AI.
Okay, okay, @theeimer.bsky.social , here you go: the beginning of an #AutoML starter pack
-->happy to add AutoML folks and friends, just reply/PN to suggest yourself or others

Since BlueSky is gaining momentum, let me try again to post more about #AutoML (and related topics) here. There will actually be a big surprise at the end of the year ... Don't miss it ;-)
Thanks for setting this up. How to get on this list? ;-)
Also many thanks to the other committee members: Joschka Boedecker, Wolfgang Nejdl and Alexander Dockhorn
I think we both learned so much over the last 4.5 years from each other. Thank you very much, Theresa, for also showing me the way sometimes and for helping me build up the group in Hannover - especially our RL subgroup.
For me, yesterday was also special in another way: Although I co-supervised already three other PhD students and all of them were very successful, Theresa is my first team member in Hannover who graduated from my group.
