I have a urinal in my flat and it has changed my life – so why are people appalled? | Adrian Chiles Some have been known to retch at the sight of it, but I am a great enthusiast for urinals in the home. Mine has pride of place beneath the West Brom crest, writes Adrian Chiles

The editor of the Guardian's husband once installed a urinal in his house and wrote a column about it.

Yeah, we might rethink the Fallout suit as I'm not sure it's as recognisable as we first thought. (I say as someone hwo has never played or watched Fallout.)

🍄‍🟫 The last remaining treaty limiting the number of nuclear weapons the US and Russia can have pointed at one another expires next week.

It will be the first time since the '70s there is no legal limit on the US and Russia's nuclear arsenals.

I've made a whole video about it. Out on Nebula now.

Bruce Springsteen Minneapolis song vs. Billy Bragg Minneapolis song.

What a week for dad culture.

I keep getting served TikToks by the behind-the-scenes account of the Daily Mail Group New Media unit.

It does appear you can still have a cool Buzzfeed-esque media job if you're willing to work at the racism factory.

I love that AI companies consistently try the "my biggest flaw is that I work too hard" line of promoting their tools.

Enjoying the way the FT makes no bones about using the language of “bets” and “gamblers” to talk about Polymarket.

It’s times like this that it’s great that Alistair Campbell hosts the biggest political podcast in the UK.

Because, if anyone’s gonna have an insight into shakily-justified invasions…

As long as they don’t do it on the therapy sofa.

The only ones who can save it are *some* of our broadest base stand-up comedians.

Jimmy Carr would smash panto.

Unfortunately, we've convinced comedians they should instead be talking to contrarian podcast hosts about tax brackets.

(That Shane Ritchie is still doing Panto is evidence enough of that.)

3 months ago 6 0 1 0

I was watching Shane Ritchie do a slightly tired turn in Dick Whittington last week and wondering what happens to panto when the Shane Ritchies of this world retire.

Our post-mass culture world doesn't really produce Shane Ritchies anymore. Both skills-wise or cross-generational fame-wise.

It's a powerful example of the misaligned incentives of contemporary society that Jimmy Carr is currently talking politics and philosophy on podcasts rather than spending a month at a Corn Exchange somewhere doing Panto.

Given the slow-and-steady manner in which British liberalism has been defeated and its achievements undone, perhaps "The Hannibal Society" might be more apt?*

*Someone with better Roman history knowledge can possibly tell me whether this is a good bit or not...

British centrists are currently in the Downfall bunker telling themselves it’s going really well, actually.

Frankly embarrassing to believe that the solution to the Labour Party’s polling woes is…

…to carry on with exactly the same strategy which is obviously going down like a lead balloon.

My wife turned on Call The Midwife and the nuns were facing-off with the Triads in Hong Kong. Which was unexpected.

Fascinated by the random paragraph in the middle which is about a guy from the Sidemen.

I just wanted to make it clear that there's no conscious avoidance. Incompetence on my part, on the other hand... maybe! Have a lovely end to your year!

I'm always really open to thoughts and feedback about what we do/don't cover. We've been working on arranging an interview about the Supreme Court ruling and impacts thereof, which I'm hoping we'll make happen in the New Year. Apologies that's not happened sooner.

Excuses aside though, I really regret that a proper treatment of how the promotion of TRT to cis men sits alongside increased restrictions on hormone therapies for trans people was the thing which didn't make it.

3 months ago 0 0 1 0

Just to chip in, I completely take that criticism on the TRT video. It ended up being a huge, unwieldy project with a lot to pack in even at 1hr+, and which was really up against a deadline.
