I think MDPI and Frontiers are a variation of the Elsevier and Springer model on cocaine, catering to the overproduction addiction.
The commodification of scientific publishing has led to an overproduction with 6 million papers being published each year. It has also enabled the publishing of fake "peer reviewed" papers through paper mills. The publish or perish model has to go!

Only the Palestinian people deserve the #NobelPeacePrize. Enduring decades of brutal occupation, massacres & now a live streamed genocide, and yet holding on to their fortitude & kindness, they are the lodestar for humanity. No one deserves it more this year.
