You Can Never Let Them Think They Have A Chance | Defector I don’t remember the first time someone hit on me as a reporter. I believe this is because my brain has come to treat these events as unremarkable. For any woman in journalism, they pile up over the y...

I wrote about Dianna Russini, the constant pressure female reporters face to prove they aren't sleeping with sources (plus the pressure we do get from sources to get involved with them), and why all of this is so uncomfortable to talk about.

Do links hurt news publishers on Twitter? Our analysis suggests yes Engagement for tweets from @nytimes (53 million followers) is dwarfed by engagement for tweets from @GlobeEyeNews (866,000 followers).

Nieman Lab analyzed the tweets of major news organizations that link back to their websites and compared them to a handful of “breaking news” accounts that almost never include links. It found that tweets with links almost definitely are being suppressed by the Twitter algorithm.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? As the Trump administration wages war on the press, news outlets hosting White House Correspondents’ Dinner events are dodging questions about who’s on their guest lists.

CBS News inviting Pete Hegseth to its White House Correspondents' Dinner table is—as would expect—sparking backlash.

“What a slap in the face to the journalists at CBS News,” an exec from a rival network told @nataliekorach.bsky.social.

Another effect of this war is that it has effectively rubber stamped all the pro regime propaganda about the United States

What are u gonna say in response to: “are u saying they don’t blow up school children, start wars of aggression, threatened to end our civilization and genocide our country, &…

I'm no fancy politician, but if I was a member of Congress and the President (the guy with the nuclear codes) was ranting like a madman about killing "a whole civilization," I would end my vacation pretty quickly

Criminal justice expert Peter Vronksy says that more than 80 percent of known American serial killers operated between 1970 and 1999. “It’s an era that was coined as the ‘golden age of serial murder‘ by Harold Schechter, who was a crime historian,” Vronsky tells Rolling Stone.

Not sure if the same dynamic played out here, but years ago at Tumblr we saw a big surge in usage, which, it turned out, was driven in large part because Tumblr was a class signifier-we didn't translate into Portuguese at that point, so if you were on Tumblr it showed you knew English

Blaming leftists for this site's lack of growth is silly, IMO.

The people who run this place keep putting out features that no one wants (endless finance bullshit & AI) instead of the ones that everyone on here constantly requests (group chats, better search, better video, etc).

They’ve Paid a Price for Their Epstein Ties. Who’s Next? As Trump and MAGAworld avoid Epstein accountability, other American elites have taken a hit

I made an Epstein accountability tracker

Iran may be helping Trump keep the scandal at arm's length, but other pals of the sex pest are paying a price.
