Vanceseems to think that you can separate politics and morality and the church should stay out of the first one, even when it involves the mass slaughter of children. There is a thing in Matthew 6:3 about your right hand not knowing what your left hand is doing, but it's about charity, not murder.

A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.

I hope this is driving home to folks that anti-DEI/anti-woke are functioning mostly as a way to make racism more palatable by framing it as a kind of defensive reaction to an imagined unfairness.
