An âordinaryâ storm with extraordinary impacts: what made Wellingtonâs deluge so intense?
James Renwick, Professor of Physical Geography at our School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences, explains.

The police had done nothing for six months, even though this was a terrorism matter, and then rushed through a charge without the requisite decision from the attorney general. There was then an attempt to reissue the charge even though they knew it was a day late. And the CPS, rather than accepting defeat at first instance, devoted time and resources to an appeal, even though the applicable law was long settled. Terrorism law should be taken seriously. It is a special body of law in respect of dealing with particular threats. But the case of Liam Ăg Ă hAnnaidh shows two things. It shows the lack of seriousness with which the police take terrorism legislation, and it shows the utter seriousness of the CPS in trying to protect itself.

A series of unforced errors show that terrorism law is not taken seriously by those who should be enforcing it

Had this problem when we lived out on the peninsula with only on street parking (someone with a gardening business and multiple trailers/vans). As another poster says, if it is unrestricted parking, 'can't do anything' was WCC response.

I am shocked and appalled by the gun attack targeting Sydneyâs Jewish community that has left at least twelve dead and dozens more injured. Our thoughts and prayers go to the families and friends of those lost, the injured, the first responders, and the people of Australia at this deeply distressing time. There can be no place for hatred or violence anywhere, in particular at a time of celebration for many as people gathered to celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah at Bondi Beach. At a lecture honouring the historian Dermot Keogh just two days ago, I noted that antisemitism has been one of the most consistent and pernicious prejudices throughout history, providing the foundation for murderous outrages in many eras and many places. This latest evil act in Sydney is a further manifestation of the murderous hate spawned by antisemitism.

Excited to vote for my head of state today for the first time (was away from Ireland for last few Presidential elections). I do miss #dogsatpollingstations which fills feeds on NZ election day due to the strict media moratorium there. Pic of my best boy Dexter (RIP) on GE '23 #aras25 #speirgorm
