I too would like to be stranded 70,000 light years from Earth right about now.

Why *wouldn't* there be a fox detective on BAILII’s bot challenge screen?
that's what the parrot is for
"I would never knowingly mislead the public", claimed Starmer, knowingly misleading the public.
She's tweeted a link to a site called "trans crime", or words to that effect. Anybody who can't recognise that as gutter bigotry is unreachable, imo.
IMO the core principle of Goodwin is that Article 8 requires *full* legal recognition for trans people, for all statutes. There are PMOAALA exceptions, but trying to cram the entirety of sex discrimination law into one makes a mockery of the entire ruling, something the UK courts recognised pre-FWS.
The supreme court simply ignored Goodwin, along with a whole bunch of other arguments they couldn't meaningfully address. They had an outcome they wanted, and weren't going to let a little thing like multiple ECtHR rulings get in their way.
Yay, you did it! Hitting 100k today of all days seems fitting.
Eh, if an MP really can't make it, pairing is a fair way to handle it imo. It ensures that the overall vote is unaffected.
Most Christians? Sure. Right-wing evangelicals? Not only would they not recognise Jesus if he personally appeared before them, the moment they heard him speak about being kind to others they'd probably shoot him.
feel like it's a problem that being overtly evil is so lucrative tbh
I missed the last hour of the stream; this came out really well! Nicely done!
That's the neat part, there isn't!
Fun fact: Robin's social media accounts are also not run by the BBC!
Now I'm not an expert in the history of the Middle East, but I'm fairly sure Reagan arming the people in Afghanistan ended up having some unintended consequences further down the line.
The best and worst of humanity coexisting in such close proximity would make excellent fiction, but turns out it fucking sucks to live through.
I function primarily on spite these days, but to the extent I still manage to have hope, it's based in exactly this. They've tried over and over, not just with us, but with gay people, people of colour, jews...the list is not short. They always fail in the end. In the meantime, we limit the damage.
Offer available only for certain opinions (you know the ones).
"When faced with a choice, we do the wrong thing, fight tooth and nail to continue doing the wrong thing, and finally relent only when we have no other option" doesn't really have the same ring to it, tbh.
The only papers retracted were garbage that should never have been published in the first place. That's not a free speech issue. People are free to publish pseudoscientific nonsense on their blogs if they wish. Journals are entitled to reject or retract any work which isn't up to standard.
Kaltiala published a similar study a couple of years ago, which @gidmk.bsky.social helpfully deconstructed in the article below. Perhaps he'd be interested in doing the same for this one.
Wish I could be there.
Do hobbits have an advantage in the flipping game on account of their height?
They often insist that they can't just use our preferred terminology, because that would be taking a side on a contested issue. Somehow this reasoning does not prevent them from referring to transphobes as "women's rights activists". Weird!
No, I think Gove probably had exactly the same impression, that's just what he's into.
A lot of people who don't care when Labour push transphobia would suddenly decide it was bad coming from Reform, too.
Hoping that a) you're right, and b) this will also apply in the UK. I am particularly doubtful on the latter point.
