That time of year again!
If the Iliad came out today, people would accuse Homer of being a hack because the action comes to a screeching halt with the forging of Achilles' shield and, like, that's not even a realistic picture for a shield.
Media literacy is dead. Media literacy remains dead. And we have killed it.
My parents gush about my brothers' accomplishments all the time, but when it comes to me, an adult who is also, by all rights, accomplished, it's, "Well, uhm..."
Frick double standards, man.
My brother leaves and comes back, and he's the Prodigal Son.
I leave and come back, and I'm just a problem.
And no, this isn't normal sibling rivalry. He's told me some truly messed up stuff, and when I finally opened up to my parents about what he said and how it made me feel, I was just told, "Who cares?"
So not even 24 hours later, he's trying to bait me into a fight. I'm currently catching strays because he decided to be a know-it-all in the family chat. I. SAID. NOTHING.
But I know if I try to respond, I'm the one who will get in trouble because he's really, really good at DARVO.
We created a new family chat, and my mom had to set some ground rules, all of which were made because apparently, I identify as a problem.
(In reality, I get bullied by one sibling in particular, and when I stand up for myself, I get in trouble.)
Apparently, when I'm boycotting Eurovision, the music I listen to is autism music.
Good to know.
Props to 🇪🇸 🇸🇮 🇳🇱 and 🇮🇪 for sticking to their word.
Screw the EBU.
One of the shitty parts of aging is that you're kind of expected to become set in your ways and never evolve or change your tastes or opinions. But I'm still breathing. I'm still alive. I should be allowed to change. Unlike butterflies, I can metamorphize over and over again.

Listening to this song over and over again. It's so good! I especially like the twist at the end.

My mom sent a text to our family chat extolling the "virtues" of one Cheetolini, and then she wrote, "For those who believe, you have your marching orders."
Absolutely wild.
When you say only the “genuinely disabled” should receive support, you’re aiding fascism.
When you say people are scamming the system, you’re aiding fascism.
Many disabilities are invisible and it’s hard to get support.
People aren’t scamming. That’s “useless eater” rhetoric designed to divide.
YEAAAAAAH, СОФІЯ WON!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I feel bad for the other kids, though. They look so sad. I wish they wouldn't have all been on stage like that.
6) Ooh, that was neat! It's giving "1944," "Teresa & Maria," and "Asteromata" vibes with the staging and costuming! Very nice! Fantastic performance!
5) He made really good use of the LED screen behind him, I'd say the best use of the night! Great job!
4) Omg, best outfits of the night so far! I can't decide which one I like more! I think the camping/stars theme is really fun, and THAT NOTE! Wow! Wonderful job!
I'm glad to be able to watch the commercials instead of staring at a blank screen for a few minutes. It's neat to see how cultures display themselves in their advertisements.
Pas pak time!
3) Ooh, I really like this one! Ngl, this was my winner coming in to the competition, and she didn't disappoint! What an exciting, energetic song! Excellent performance!
1) Okay, punk rocker kid is really cute, and the song is so upbeat and fun! I enjoyed that!
2) Ooh, I really liked that second song! It was really cool, and the staging let me understand more-or-less what the song was about!
Outstanding job to both performers!
THIS ONE KID SAID, LIKE, THREE WORDS THAT I RECOGNIZED!!! THE DUOLINGO LESSONS ARE WORKING!!!
Oh noooo, not the Vidbir judges! I hope they're being nicer than the adult Vidbir judges!
(BUT this also reminds me to do my Duolingo lessons)
I'm watching baby Vidbir because of course, I am. Google tells me the way to wish singers a good performance is "Toi, toi, toi," so... toi, toi, toi! to all the kids participating! I wish them all the best!
I have taken
the Tylenol
that was in
the medicine cabinet
and which
they think probably
is the reason
you like trains
forgive me
but that’s bullshit
you got autism
from your dad
I'm so curious about Intervision, but also, ewwww to supporting Putin.
I just found out that I'm related to Empress Theodora (yes, THAT Empress Theodora), and I feel like I should be living my life differently now.
Or maybe I'm just tired of being told "GOTCHA, ATHEIST!" because I believe genocide is negative. Bad, even.
I'm comfortable saying that social movements and religions can have similarities and can even shade into each other; I'm not comfortable saying that all social movements are religions because of these similarities.
