The herby color is from pistachio, the pasta-looking stuff is shredded phyllo dough, which has in fact been compared to pasta: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kadayif...

Same exact experience for me.
Almost certainly. That was exactly the reaction for Donna and me.
The trailer for one of his early movies ended with the voiceover guy -- in his growliest, toughest tone -- saying, "An ANTOINE FUQUA film!" and ever since then my wife and I haven't been able to hear or read his name without repeating that.
I highly recommend reading the alt-text.
Good reflections
I will never forget the experience of seeing LEAVING NEVERLAND at its Sundance premiere. For @avclub.com I wrote about a devastating, definitive documentary about surviving sexual abuse that cannot be erased.
So excited for the return of GAME CHANGER, and particularly excited by this trailer, which makes it clear they're doing "Rulette" again. That episode sold me on subscribing to Dropout, the streaming service that's easily brought me more joy over the past six months than any other entertainment.
ok this is a good poster with a good tagline
“low audience satisfaction scores”
I still occasionally use X for work reasons, and I see the algorithms are doing great.
(The Pitt has not been cancelled)
The other day the word "gaucho" was an answer in a trivia quiz I was doing, which got me singing the Steely Dan song "Gaucho" for the rest of the day. It was all a welcome reminder that you can just listen to "Gaucho" whenever you want. It's a gift you can give yourself. youtu.be/dWFo1CA_9yk?...
It's a fun one.
Sunday Dinner: Baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed spinach, roll
There's a sense in which I respect the evangelical leaders who unhesitatingly lined up behind the idea that President Pedophile B. Antichrist, the libertine looting and burning the world every day, is god's manifestation on earth. You have to rework your brain and moral sense so much to get there.
I've been enjoying America's Culinary Cup, even though it's pretty much just Top Chef Redux; and I have to say, the most recent episode ("The Gastronomic Gauntlet") was one of the most original and entertaining challenges I've ever seen on one of these kinds of shows.
I worked customer service at a G.E. affiliate that purchased SAP order entry software, and to this day I can hear the voice of a grizzled old coworker on the phone telling clients, "We got this *sap* system now. It's a piece of crap."
Good turtle (w/stylish leaf adornment)
Living right
In honor of both Merle Haggard's 4/6 birthday, and also the tenth anniversary of his death, I picked a dozen 21st c. covers of Haggard songs for Good Country. (Think of this as a companion to the 20th c.-only list I did last week for No Fences Review, link to that one in this one)
Star Wars is, at its core, about how weird-looking robot guys and aliens do or do not get along with British people
First thing I thought of when I saw that news.
The two have very different styles (I'm assuming, Disney's Hexed hasn't released yet) but it does make me appreciate the silly facial expressions in KPop Demon Hunters on the female characters
Pete Hegseth: fake Bible fan, but also fake Pulp Fiction fan
The explicit thing about the quotation is that Jackson’s character keeps saying it because he thinks it sounds badass, but hasn’t really thought about it. He says this in so many words. Hegseth absorbed the quote but not the point.
Good colors.
Emmys for all the Pitt babies.
Young pope Leo, undated but he appears to be in his teens or early 20’s
young pope leo looks like a ska scene regular who goes by Upbeat but no one knows his real name
Pop Will Eat Itself's "Can U Dig It?" shuffled up the other day, and while it sounds pretty dated as a song, it still works really well as a list of cool shit to be into. youtu.be/36nWNAvtwrw?...
