As a result of the mayor’s politically motivated & misinformation laced statements, we as council members had to compile a memo of our substantive reasons on why we did not confirm Mr. Barnette: lims.minneapolismn.gov/Download/Fil...

The comments from some CMs on this subject yesterday were completely out of touch and frankly ignorant. As a queer person, to see how so many campaigned as “LGBTQ+ champions” and then completely dismiss this issue as “unimportant” is just disappointing.
The same moderate CMs that claim that the progressives are “too focused on intl issues” are the same ones that have brought forward ZERO policies to support our neighbors in the wake of the ICE invasion of our city. You can bring forward multiple policies at the once. It’s called doing your job.
Like you’re legitimately trying to call out Jason Chavez for not doing his job. You’re either bad faith or have been living under a rock because he has done more than anyone in this city to protect his residents these last 3 months. You can’t question his lack of focus on what truly matters.
It’s been a wild morning outside of City Hall – we had two HSI vehicles illegally parked on Minneapolis police parking right next to City Hall. The tow was called and had started being put on the car when the HSI agents arrived in shame, and were booed out by the several people, staff, & CMs.
The same day Frey vetoed a temporary extension of the pre-eviction notice, the MN Senate passed rental assistance and… a temporary extension of the state’s pre-eviction notice. Jim Abeler voted for it so Frey & some CMs are to the right of some MN republicans.

As a 61B delegate, I’m also concerned that immigration and keeping our neighbors housed is not considered a campaign issue. Convention is next week and I will be watching closely to your response @jamiemlong.bsky.social.
Dear community, I am calling on Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to sign on Pause Eviction, Safe Lives.
If this policy does not pass, please expect to see our vulnerable community members enter the court process.
We passed pause evictions, save lives. Now it’s on Mayor Frey’s Desk— please reach out to his office to support this critical legislation and not to veto it. Call: 612-673-2100
Families will face evictions without adequate time to get funds together for rent.
It’s impossible to fully capture how much Ivonne & Jason have done. They’ve not only been patrolling their community 24/7 since December, but hundreds of families they don’t even know from all across the city ask them for rent help, translation help, legal help & more and they help them immediately.

UREGENT AID NEEDED On January 22nd Miriam and her 18-year old daughter Sandra were targeted and pulled over by ICE. Miriam and Sandra were forced out of their vehicle at gunpoint. Miriam was aggressively thrown to the ground and handcuffed, despite informing ICE agents she was 5 months pregnant.
UREGENT AID NEEDED Upon arrival at the Whipple building, daughter Sandra was given a pregnancy test and tested positive. Both mother and daughter were sent to Texas. For weeks, Miriam was experiencing severe and abnormal pregnancy symptoms, and frequently requested to see a doctor. It wasn't until she fainted and was visibly in a dangerous state that the other women in the detention center organized a noise demonstration; chanting and pleading for Miriam to receive medical help.
We need your help bringing two pregnant women back home from ICE detention!

We were literally watching our community provide a ceremony at the Whipple building.
Hennepin County Sheriff’s then began to escalate tensions. This was disrespectful to our community, our culture, and our ancestors.
This created fear and was an attack on our right to peacefully assemble.
Mega vouch, let's go.
Some of my students aren’t coming to school because of where they live and the lack of support they get from their city regarding their protection. Please give to this gofundme if you can.
Mobile home parks are constantly targeted by ICE because they’re often more isolated from more visible residential neighborhoods. There’s 21 families that need help paying March rent and @amyudiaz.bsky.social is in direct contact with the landlord to make it happen. Help donate!

Help us raise money for a community member who needs to remain anonymous due to being targeted by the federal government during their unlawful occupation of our city. They were targeted by ICE at their job and now have not been able to work. Please donate & share!

I just got a call from a relative letting me know his close friend’s mother was kidnapped by ICE while she was heading to work. We’re close to our goal, but we need your help to bring Lidia Escobar Maya home. This will help with lawyer and bond fees. Working is not a crime. 💔

A picture of Kay Carvajal Moran being endorsed by AFSCME Council 5.
It is with much joy to announce that I have received the endorsement of AFSCME Council 5! This endorsement is significant to me, as they are my union representing me.

I’m excited to share that my campaign is officially Labor Endorsed. I’m proud to have earned the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federations (MRLF) Endorsement! This is the umbrella organization of Minneapolis area local unions and includes 175 affiliated unions and 75,000 working people.
When you run Pride and Planned Parenthood ad campaigns, it negates anything about remaining “neutral.” This is simply capitulating in advance and consciously deciding protecting our immigrant community is too much. We need leadership in these moments, not bs excuses.

Right now, I see little difference between the DFL party and those who contributed to revoking the endorsement, and Trump. Both ripping away democracy from everyday people and giving power to the few. Give me back my voice and vote !!!
As a first time City Convention delegate I’m extremely disappointed in the DFL’s decision to revoke the endorsement of Omar Fateh. I was proud and excited to be a part of the democratic process and represent my Latinx community, who are often underrepresented in these spaces.
Kay Carvajal Moran filing for office surrounded by community!
My name is Kay Carvajal Moran, and it’s with great honor that I have filed to become your next Minneapolis Park Board Commissioner for District 5! I am a progressive, proud daughter of Mexican immigrants, and a community advocate who’s passionate about building a park system that works for everyone.
