on my commute home i saw the aftermath of a car crashing into an ebiker. very clearly the car turned into the bike and the rider was likely maimed or killed. it makes me sick to my stomach that after 100 years of this shit society still treats daily loss of life like the cost of doing business.
people get hella mad when you say adult drivers should be more responsible than children on our streets.
Driving a car gives you metal thoughts. It makes you feel invulnerable. It makes you feel apart from and better than pedestrians. It saps your patience. Driving a car is bad for your soul.
I see people being constantly killed and maimed by cars in my city and then commentators have reactions like this.
It’s what passes as being reasonable in a car centric society.
The underlying premise of all these quote tweets is that places that put more of the burden of safety on drivers works.
There are no good or decent drivers. Every driver should know they wield a world-ending device and if that scares them, they should find another way to get around. One million dead per year because drivers can't let go of the steering wheel while careening us to climate oblivion.

We’re back. Two weeks ago, a driver killed a 2 year-old child at 4th and Channel—the third pedestrian fatality of 2026. Since then, all SFMTA has done was repaint the existing crosswalks for a photo op. So the community took matters into our own hands.
