this explains one piece of the puzzle but says nothing on how he would have decided if europe would had behaved different from how it did.

why would he think he can invade a multiple times stronger ukrainian army easier in 2022 than in 2014? and now add that europe in a yearslong process would have rearmed , providing military support for ukraine, you think he would have just have accepted a EU/NATO ukraine?

the insanity (the megalomania type of) was real for him before covid already. and no one can tell if he wouldnt have invaded ukraine the moment he came to the conclusion there is no time to loose before europe/ukraine getting too strong. when europe arms for landwar, he would think what for that is?

before we continue: im pro ukrainian, i am actively supporting ukrainians. i just dont see a scenario when putin pre 2022 see actions that prevent him taking ukraine in the future and simply does nothing.

yes, we cant proof anything here. but why would he believe he can take ukraine easier in 2021 than in 2014? military spending, troop recruitment, command and training structure, defense lines- all this was happening during 2014-2022, leading ukraine to just repell the invasion.
