Then, in 1991, a group at Johns Hopkins determined the three-dimensional structure of a zinc finger protein bound to a DNA target site. This confirmed the NMR structure and also confirmed my ideas about how these proteins recognize DNA, but provided many more details. This structure helped many groups (including mine) understand both how natural zinc finger proteins recognize DNA and allowed them to design zinc finger proteins that would recognize pre-selected DNA sequences. This laid the foundation for technologies used in agriculture and other fields and in clinical trials for a potential functional cure for HIV infection.

I’ve watched a lot of congressional hearings over the last 40 years. This performance by Bondi is the single most unprofessional, non-responsive, reprehensible and obnoxious I have ever seen from any witness who has testified before any committee of either chamber.

The long and the short of it: this legislation would incentivize waste, fraud and abuse. What's the impetus? Trying to shift the cost burden of caring for vets from the state to the feds.

One of the first orders of business for a Dem Chair of either Armed Services committee must be hearings on the injection of partisan politics into our military by Hegseth and MAGA-aligned commanders. Troops must not be pressured or indoctrinated to side with either party.

After Rep. Massie & I flagged to the DOJ that they had redacted the names of six men who were allegedly incorrectly accused of crimes, they have now unredacted the identities of those men and some women.

The problem remains that the files the DOJ received were scrubbed by the FBI in March.

Throughout this clip, Rep. Steil says over and over again that masking wouldn't be necessary if local governments cooperated with ICE. But that's nonsense. ICE is masking even in red states, even in places where there are 287(g) agreements, and even hiding their faces in photos taken at prisons!
