Holding on tighter, Stelle felt increasingly confused and concerned as the shaking continued to increase in intensity until his voice finally broke out, in a bright, clear laugh. Unrestrained, jovial, pure laughter, reverberating through him until he finally sagged forward, wheezing slightly. “Oh Stelle, the irony is so rich. I lectured you, tried to kill you, you helped depose me from my perch on high, and then you offer the fallen comfort. I’m grateful you don’t hate me.” “I don’t hate you.” “But you pity me. I can’t blame you, I am pitiable right now.” “Yeah, but that ‘right now’ shows your stuff. You won’t stay down forever.” He sighed deeply at this and played a couple notes idly before responding. “Thank you, Stelle. I still have hope, and for now that will have to do.” Patting his shoulder, she released him partially from her grip, leaving his hand in hers, enjoying the warmth transmitted through his gloves. “A wise idol lady once said that Hope was the thing with feathers?” Sunday groaned and pulled his hand away. Meeting his gaze, Stelle enjoyed the wrinkles at the corner of his eyes, and the faintest hint of a smile on his face. “My penance, indeed,” he chided as he started playing a new, more upbeat song.

that they are freaking out this badly over a surtax on second homes worth more than five million dollars - the most excessive rich person thing imaginable, which doesn’t even affect most of them - really makes it clear how little attention you need to pay to the freak outs

it's super funny because what it actually says is theyre now so deep up the arsehole of their group chats they think this is a gripe that will find a broad swathe of sympathy across society-because they now no longer even interact in any capacity with ppl without multiple homes
