Speaking of The Claws Of Axos, I almost wish we had the studio tape for the stuff at the power complex as well because good grief that effects shot is gnarly and I kinda wish I could see it uncensored.

The 2013 restoration of The Claws Of Axos which used the color from the NTSC tapes combined with the 16mm B&W film prints for an overall better quality image, though sacrificing a few precious pixels.
The older restoration of The Claws Of Axos utilizing the NTSC tapes found in Canada. These tapes went through Reverse Standards Conversion to restore them to the PAL format. Though the image quality is not as good as the original PAL master.
An interesting thing to note that I had never considered is that Retro TV utilizes the 2013 restoration of The Claws Of Axos while the Classic Who YouTube channel/Tubi utilize the early 2000’s RSC restoration.
Been enjoying The Mind Of Evil on RetroTV over the past few nights, if I’m correct it’s the second network to air this story in color (the other being KBTC) since the 70’s.

Doctor Who is back on Tubi in the US! The offerings are the same as last time, so there’s a slight advantage to the Classic Who YouTube channel which has uploaded all of the partially animated ones as well (all restored) and has been uploading Orphaned Episodes too.
This week, and today specifically is 20 years since the start of Series 2, tomorrow is 60 years since The Dancing Floor aired. From this point Season 3 runs parallel to Series 2, only outlasting it by one week with Part 4 of The War Machines. Interesting!

I think that is in part why they didn’t end up buying the serial, because when you get to 2 all the stuff they want cut just doesn’t work. And that’s still at an A rating when they needed a G!
I often wonder how The Ark was seen in Australia and NZ, since neither liked the close ups of the Monoids
Keep in mind this still has an A rating, with cuts!
I’ve gone and edited this scene and cut out all the bits the Australian Censors wanted cut, just for a bit of fun! It isn’t 100% accurate since it’s edited digitally instead of cutting a film print, but I think I got close enough.

I’m inclined to agree, I always thought that if they did a two part omnibus of the story that Episode 5 would be a good place to end the first half.
I watched 1-3 with a slight gap between two and three to deal with a flooded basement!
I thought the new episodes were phenomenal! Absolutely outstanding and it leaves me wanting more to be found! Haha!
He must’ve gone back in time and was sneaking around the beeb to try to make dupes of the master tapes from The Myth Makers when he got roped in as an extra! Ha!

Yeah I believe that section is damaged in Holman’s audio which is what caused that line to be omitted. Though that line is fortunately present in the Randolph Recordings which will likely be the source to patch audio related issues.
The next episode caption for The Traitors, now the only episode out of the first 5 of Master Plan to be missing. Also this isn’t a spoiler a black box isn’t a spoiler!!

The only thing I noticed was an audio thing during Episode 3 where there was what I can assume is a scratch as a Dalek is talking around 18:20 covered by some major noise removal tools. Will no doubt be cleaned up for the home release! But I thought all around the restoration was great!
A final last minute thing that I’m excited to see in the recovered episodes is the model Dalek from The Chase being seen on the scanner at the end of The Nightmare Begins!
That’s definitely one of the things I’m looking forward to seeing as well!
But I’m really curious about seeing Kurt post extermination since there’s supposed to be a “scorched” effect. And perhaps there will be some Vargas to be seen as well!
