Instead of whining about it Republicans propose clean anti-gerrymandering legislation in Congress, which Democrats would almost certainly vote for. But Republicans hate democracy and fairness.

In this case, it's not even a federal constitutional limit. Congress could by simple majorities override this tomorrow and impose whatever rules they wanted on redistricting. Won't happen because of the legislative filibuster, but that's purely a matter of political will.

Aside from who started it, states like CA and VA putting a counter-gerrymander up to a referendum, where people are told and can make a decision on the context for why it's being done, has vastly more democratic legitimacy than state legislators rushing it through because they got bullied by POTUS.

And in fact Republican states like Utah and Ohio have retained their gerrymanders in open defiance of successful referendums demanding non-partisan redistricting

IMO "When they go low we go high" is for things like Dem's giving disaster to red states (unlike Trump w/ Blue states), not for abandoning political levers of power

You can get a lot of people to like a vulgar, pop leftism of slogans and such, but governing will involve actual data and choices and a need to run things for universal healthcare and free education to mean anything.
