Where’s the Pink Ribbon for Lung Cancer? We can do better, and we need to demand action.

Did you know lung cancer kills more people than breast, prostate and colon cancer combined? We urgently need a way to screen the general population.

We brought together over 20 lung cancer advocacy organizations to collectively make a difference. Our goal for this study is to understand more about how our genetics influence lung cancer so we can improve detection, reduce risk, and have better treatment options.

When Susan was diagnosed with lung cancer we quickly learned we had many unanswered questions. We launched the @23andme Lung Cancer Community with the intention of getting answers.

As we sit down for Thanksgiving this year with friends and family I want to share this quote from Susan's blog that she wrote a before she died.

There is an urgent need for research to develop better screening methods for this deadly disease. Lung cancer can impact people who smoked and people who never smoked. Our family is committed to bringing awareness to lung cancer and working to develop earlier screening methods.

When Susan was diagnosed we had no idea that lung cancer was the number one cancer killer - killing more people than breast, prostate and colon cancer combined. There is also no universal screen the way there is for breast, prostate and colon.

It was devastating news when she was diagnosed in 2022 and it's still a shock to believe my vibrant, passionate, loving sister is gone. November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
