Trump told you he’d run America like a business.

He is.

It’s called asset stripping. You sell the profitable pieces, gut the workforce, load it with debt, and walk away rich while everyone else holds the bag.

Congratulations. You didn’t elect a president. You hired a liquidator.

This is really big (if it works!)—a big limitation for the use of R in simulation up to this point has been memory bloat. I’ve had to turn off parallel processing/reduce the number of workers many times in my {targets} workflows due to OOM errors. Hopefully this will solve that problem

Everything else, however, does seem to be getting worse.

Knife killings down by 21%, figures show The annual ONS crime data also shows overall recorded homicides have fallen.

Lots of "commentators" are rewarded for spreading lies and convincing you that everything is getting worse and you should be afraid. The good news is it's not: homicides at their lowest level in 50 years and killings involving a knife are at their lowest recorded level

USAID Whistleblower Says It Was Even Worse Than People Knew Political appointees wanted a quiet drawdown, the whistleblower says. DOGE wanted an execution.

Still feel like "Musk and his crew of incels destroyed a bunch of stuff they didn't understand and thereby hastened the deaths of millions of children" did not get the public attention it warranted.

There came a point when the Roman empire couldn't keep the sea lanes open and free of piracy anymore. If you're keeping up on your bingo card for what the collapse of a decaying superpower hegemony looks like.

Can't find the source now, but on Twitter someone memorably summed up Mr Beast with "When I look in the eyes of Mr Beast I find myself believing in the concept of a soul, purely from witnessing its absence"

Business degrees are booming in the UK. Who is profiting? Average incomes five years after graduating are less than for people who studied nursing

Really important Big Read this on what is just straightforwardly a misselling scandal taking place in plain sight in my view:

The number of NIH competitive awards is down 50% from 2025, and down ~70% from prior years. Even if they catch up by the end of the year, only wealthy institutions can bridge these huge funding gaps. They're killing science-and violating the constitution-by weaponizing the bureaucracy

Svalbard’s weather is fickle, but one might expect highs of -9*C in April here, 1200 miles from the North pole.

But over recent days it’s more like June. Max of +7*C, T shirt weather, and rivers starting to flow, snowmobiles stranded.

In my student days +7*C would be a hot July day.
