This is what Iโve always wondered!
"bananas"? plural?
I've been thinking of this one a lot as I endeavor to watch every episode of The Twilight Zone:
My college boyfriend and I used to watch Futurama together, and "IT TURNS OUT IT'S MAN" became a running joke between us for, like, the next 10 years.

On the plus side, it looks like you're more than halfway through it!
Minotaurs? No, thanks.
Centaurs? Maybe...
(Lest anyone misunderstand this analogy: No, I'm not saying I want to date Santa. He's a married man!)
The romantic fiction I've watched/read in recent years has me thinking I should get back on the dating apps soon.
I'm aware, however, that this is like watching Christmas movies and deciding to trek to the North Pole. Santa's workshop isn't really there, and I'll likely get hurt on the expedition.

My proudest editorial accomplishment this week has been correcting an article that referred to Walton Goggins as "Wilson Goggins"
I earned a B.A. 21 years ago, and an M.A. after that. Then I returned to my undergraduate college and have worked there for, now, five times as long as I was a student. Both diplomas are hanging in my bedroom. And yet I still have nightmares that I'm failing my courses and won't be able to graduate.
Ah, I remember when that was my nephew's favorite thing to say
I've had at least one older woman tell me, "Oh, when the hot flashes start, *you'll know*!" But I don't necessarily think I will. Anxiety and depression have often made me feel feverish, and I live in both a condo and a region of the country where temperatures fluctuate quite a bit.
Sorry to be middle-aged on main, but I must say that the arrival this week of extra-warm spring weather is NOT helping to clear up my uncertainty as to whether I'm entering perimenopause.
"Kansas shrimp" sounds like a euphemism to try to sell people on the concept of eating land insects.
"x-year anniversary" is technically redundant, as the "ann-" in "anniversary" means "year"-- but people also say stuff like "six-month anniversary," so ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I should learn the word for "250th anniversary," as the question kept coming up at a work meeting this morning.
Ah, here it is: "semiquincentennial"-- meaning "half-five-hundredth anniversary"
My whole thing is, why say "150th anniversary" when you can say "sesquicentennial"?
John D. *and* Catherine T. MacArthur? In this economy
He kind of did, at a Q&A I attended last year!
Update: I have successfully recruited my dad into Sheng Wang fandom.
Just read a paragraph about a real-life (recently deceased) lawyer whose last name was Whitelaw and whose wife's last name was Laws
