It was a great conference, thank you @resolutionfoundation.org. Really thought provoking and some clear areas where work is needed to improve living standards for the lower earning half of the country. Great to hear from @andyburnham.bsky.social as the closing session too.

The survey covers key questions around resourcing, how you view working in the profession and key questions around likelihood to remain working in the profession. We've been tracking this data for 5 years to keep issues with investment in #careers on the agenda.

The data from the #CDIBigListen surveys is vital to us championing the profession with government and includes key questions on working in the profession.
if you work in career development - whether a CDI member or not - please do complete the survey and share with colleagues. zurl.co/FnbCY

Great to join the APPUG breakfast discussion in Parliament today, discussing how to achieve the government’s target of 2/3rds of 25yos in higher education. Shared the need to start in primary - widening perspectives, then support through education with careers, visibility of all pathways and more.
We will also email employers advertising low paid/underqualified roles to highlight the value of careers staff and suggest fair pay levels. All the details are on the website, and please do use the email template to show your support for careers staff in schools.

The first action is an email template for CDPs to send to Bridget Phillipson supporting the School Support Staff Negotiating Body which will review all non-teaching roles in schools in England. You can use it to show how important fair pay is for careers staff.
www.thecdi.net/policy-campa...
It is also creating a workforce crisis in the profession - with 23% planning to leave due to poor pay and 36% planning to retire. Unfair pay makes it hard to retain qualified professionals and replace those leaving.
www.thecdi.net/policy-campa...
The CDI @thecdi.bsky.social has launched a new Fair Pay campaign in support of fair pay in career development. We are concerned that low pay and poor employment terms in some areas leave young people and adults with less support than they deserve.

Following the publication of the Post-16 Skills and Education White paper, I've summarised the key references to careers guidance and what they might mean.
Overall, the paper is very positive about careers guidance but there's no additional funding announced.
