I was confused by this because the text of HB415 doesn’t match what’s in the article? Has the text not been updated yet or something?

One thing I’ve realized is these kids (even the boys) are way more emotionally intelligent than I was at their age.

One of my students died suddenly on Tuesday night. Since then has probably been the longest three days of my life. My school community has been beautiful about pulling together and supporting each other, but it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through.

And what, exactly, is anyone supposed to do?

Yes! We lost the arms race. The technology is now way too over powered for adolescent brains to “use it responsibly”.

I do want the vast majority of undocumented people to be able to stay here permanently, if they want! The vast majority of them are a benefit to our country and economy!

I think that’s a fair critique. Most of the lessons are also in the a/g/a2 books but just reorganized.

It definitely makes a difference to use the whole curriculum across grades, but not to that problem.

RIP discovering/keypress. We didn’t deserve you . . .

We use CPM at my school and we really like it! I use the effl model and feel like it’s friendly if not specifically embedded. Definitely problem based.

Totally agree with both of you. I have always found this hard to explain (and done graduate level problems completely wrong, myself) and I love this take as a way to make sense of it.

I am committed to the idea that rrb and rbr are different, but it’s hard to convince kids. I’ve seen some really cool arguments here I think would work!

I am STUCK on this. I see it all the time. How do I give a kid a grade and NOT have it end in this?

That’s a REALLY interesting take. Not in like a secretly I disagree with you way, but I’m a like I’m over here thinking about that kind of way.

I really love that.

I was thinking if is it just as likely you get all three red as two red and a blue?

That’s the inevitable end point of anti trans policies. Anyone with out of gender norm tendencies (almost all of us) faces discrimination.

Bookshop: Buy books online. Support local bookstores. An online bookstore that financially supports local independent bookstores and gives back to the book community.

I have been avoiding Amazon and trying to shift my ebook purchasing to bookshop.org. An anyone explain why some ebooks aren’t available there but are on Amazon?

I’ve been loving this book and it really resonates with me, so I’m excited to hear a different take on it in your podcast!
