Ah- Skinner with his crazy explanations The superintendent's gonna need his medication When he hears Skinner's lame exaggerations There'll be trouble in town tonight Seymour! Superintendent, I was just- uh, just stretching my calves on the windowsill. Isometric exercise. Care to join me? Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, Seymour? Uh- Oh. That isn't smoke. It's steam. Steam from the steamed clams we're having. Mmm. Steamed clams. Whew. Superintendent, I hope you're ready for mouthwatering hamburgers. I thought we were having steamed clams. D'oh, no. I said steamed hams. That's what I call hamburgers. You call hamburgers steamed hams? Yes. It's a regional dialect. - Uh-huh. Uh, what region? - Uh, upstate New York. Really. Well, I'm from Utica, and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "steamed hams. " Oh, not in Utica. No. It's an Albany expression. I see. Today is officially the 30th anniversary of Steamed Hams. On April 14, 1996, "22 Short Films About Springfield" aired for the first time!
I've hinted at it so much there's no point in keeping it under wraps any longer.
For the longest time, I've been working on a way to port GB games to the GBA.
What I ended up building is a modified GB to GBA emulator that targets a fantasy console instead - I call it the GB Bridge.
But I guess it would be nice if the universities here chipped in for a better transit discount too. I think the discounts are applied by logging in through the university's portal, so the ARTM can already see what school you're part of. At that point, just give the appropriate 40%+ discount.
While not 75% off like in Halifax, Montreal gives about 40% off to students of any age, and it's free for under 11.
Also, I think most of us here don't realize that businesses with 10+ employees are eligible for Opus Et Cie, and the employer can pay up to 100% for the monthly pass if they choose.
Do they at least allow dehumidifiers? That would help a bit. I don't know if Paris gets as humid as Montreal does. Montreal gets disgusting in the summer because of the humidity.
So tired. It's been a rough work week.
After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X.
This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue. 🧵 (1/5)

More and more organizations, publishers, and creators are abandoning legacy platforms that throttle their reach. Bluesky gives them a direct line to their audiences, without suppression or gatekeeping bsky.app/profile/eff....
Here me out: take all of it. Take his shirt and shoes.
Got an email from Adobe saying that they were nearly doubling the cost of my creative cloud subscriptions and adding a bunch of Gen AI dogshit I didn't ask for!
If you don't want to get charged you have to log in and downgrade to a "standard" plan that's just the fuckin apps.
To better explain. REM's upcoming Anse A L'Orme branch has a mediocre frequency. 10 minutes during rush hour, 15 min during off-peak and weekends. Thats 76 trains on a Sunday on that branch, vs Exo Vaudreuil which has 13 trains on a weekday, 3 on weekends. Mascouche has 8 on weekdays, 0 on weekends.
The problem is that Exo lines have trash frequency. While the Vaudreuil line is a bit better than the others, they all mostly run during rush hour, and mostly in the peak direction. If you want to go at another time or in the other direction, good luck.
Here's one way to speak to Bluesky developers who are pretty determined not to listen
So apparently the bosses of this place made an AI bot aaaaaand it's blocked.
wouldn't it be funny if EVERYONE blocked this Attie AI account @ bsky.app/profile/atti... before they could do anything with it
I was going to write a long post about how so many bus signs were removed before we got a date for the new routes, but you've both already done it. The STM is handling this so strangely, removing signs for current bus routes no less than 10 days before the bus reform even has a date ANNOUNCED.
It’s not just that it’s competitive, but that 49 of 50 of those openings probably weren’t real. Companies like to post fake openings at the same time they’re laying people off so that they look like they’re growing at the same time they’re cost cutting, which gives investors huge boners.
"We as developers and players need to push back against this bullsh*t just like we did with NFTs and crypto games and try in vain to do with predatory micro transactions, loot boxes and battle passes."

There are voice actors who will voice your stuff for free.
Imma repeat myself for any Dev/Creator that is considering AI.

Don’t make excuses. Stick to human talent.
Where I live, I press the button, wait up to 2.5 minutes for the crossing signal. I start crossing the wide street, 5 seconds later the light turns green and cars start going, they see I'm crossing, they wait in the middle of the street, then I get to the sidewalk (and maybe miss my bus).
Scott McCloud "Explaining Comics" panels where one is himself in a cartoony style and the second is in a realistic style, In the first panel he says, "That's why I decided to draw myself in such a simple style." In the second he says, "Would you have listened to me if I looked like this??" The first panel has been edited to be labeled "DLSS 5 Off", the second edited with "DLSS 5 On"

While $3.75 is pretty high for a single ride (with transfers), $104.50 for a month pass is actually pretty low compared to many cities. So it's not a bad deal if you can't work from home.
IMO, NYC transit has so much work to do (whether it's upkeep and cleaning, or new subway stations) that they should do this gradually. Also the new OMNY has no proper monthly fare cap, only 4 weekly caps, which costs a bit more than the old monthly fare.
It's surprising that the driver "didn't notice" the bus lane considering that Henri Bourassa is one of the few streets here with a red bus lane.
