Sad to hear tonight of the passing of Dave Mason, age 79, one of the original members of the band Traffic.
Here he is in a video of a performance 10 years ago, of his solo hit, We Just Disagree.

At this point journalists should be cautious about going. He'll have a bunch of them in one place, maybe round them all up, like how he was sending ICE to a military graduation to round up undocumented family members.
And, it would be a great PUNK for him to show up to an empty room!
BUT, please don't let my awareness of these things discourage you from further efforts, many people know less than 25% of what this administration does.
As I said above, I overload due to FOMO, often to the detriment of everyday things, like laundry, eating or sleeping.
A screen capture of a Google AI summary that states: A buffer overrun, also known as a buffer overflow, occurs when a program writes too much data to a buffer, overflowing its capacity and overwriting adjacent memory. This can be caused by malformed inputs or not allocating enough space for the buffer.
I knew (a little) about all the above, sans #3.
But, 90% of my awake time at home, TV news is on, YouTube and social, each have extra screens. It's hard to keep up. It's the Project 25/Steve Bannon strategy, "Flood the zone w/shit" and do it all too fast to keep up with.
Or, in Nerd speak:
An image of the character Mr. Potter from the movie 'It's a Wonderful Life" It is captioned: If you shoot pool with someone in the administration, you can get a job here!
A slight rephrase of Mr. Potter's line from "It's a Wonderful Life"
...and no, it's not AI, the video was uploaded to YouTube 17 years ago!
Ok, here's something that isn't politics.
Today is April 20, or 4/20, and while I don't partake, I know the significance of the date.
This is an actual thing that aired live on the Lawrence Welk show.
Not the type of song you would expect on that show...

I just wanted to state for the record that I am a firm supporter of the 25th Amendment.
It's a constitutional right that this country hasn't used enough. In fact it has never been used before.
It's time to shake the dust off and exercise, this right!
Use it or lose it, literally.
That's possible too. I pretty much just figured someone wrote it for her and said, get in front of a camera, and read this.
Just another distraction for the news. It worked. What's the big talk today, Melania gave a weird surprise speech today. Takes time away from the war.
Yeah, I'm thinking someone wrote that for her. At another point she says rumors have been "calculating around the Internet". I'm guessing that should have been "circulating".
Thanks for the heads up.
Cool, thanks for confirming that. I knew it wasn't from UK, but I wasn't sure about Australia, I don't think that one is available to me in the states, so I don't watch it.
Glad to hear Rupert is getting tired of him, maybe that sentiment will start creeping into FOX coverage here!
And it gets worse, late last month, the FCC approved a deal for Nexstar to buy Tegna, further consolidating the media.
Nexstar (The Hill & News Nation also) will now own 265 TV Stations, coving over 80% of the country.
You mention Australia, do you recognize the clip as being from Sky from there?
It isn't from the UK version that I sometimes watch here in the US.
Is Rupert finally flipping on Trump?
Listening to it again a couple of times, I think it might be real. There is diction and inflection in the voice, as opposed to the monotone of most AI voices.
Also, you can hear her take breathes, most AI doesn't do that. (yet)
As they continue to tweak it, it will get harder to tell.
I was wondering that too. It may be Sky News from Australia. They share a name with the UK network, but are different.
The Australian version does do editorials, and is owned by Rupert Murdoch, the FOX News guy.
Not saying the video isn't AI, just offering another idea.
I've said that a few times, and I also like to point out, if they try to cut or sensor the Internet, that most people rely on, that could become hard/impossible to do.
I recommend getting a shortwave radio, so you can get that news, if the worst happens.
Borders don't stop radio signals.
No question, DJT was a bad choice that (too many) people made.
It doesn't always have to be what we have now.
I submit for your consideration, this guy, who really rose to the task... (pay special attn to 2:45 to 3:15, he and DJT could not be more polar opposites)

A screenshot of the webpage for WSB TV 2, a TV station in Atlanta Georgia. It shows election results from district 14, MTG's old seat. With all 10 precincts reporting 100% ballots cast on election day (not counting absentee). Republican Clay Fuller wins with 54% of the vote, compared to Shawn Harris with 46% of the vote. For vote count, Fuller had 30,795 and Harris had 26,283.
Well crap!
But, the close numbers in that district are still encouraging.

It's time for ABC to dust off one of their old productions. In 1983 they ran a made for TV movie on their network. It shook the nation, and even got Reagan and Gorbachev to to talk about reducing nukes. Link to full movie FREE on YouTube in the first comment.

An altered image of a full moon, in front of the sun. It has meme text over it that says: During the eclipse if you listen closely, you can hear the moon singing... I'm blocking out sunshine wooah, I'm blocking out sunshine wooah, I'm blocking out sunshine wooah, and don't it feel good!
Gee whiz, how time flies. It will be 2 years ago tomorrow that the big total solar eclipse happened.
It was kind of a big deal to me, since the next time one passes over near me will be in 2099. I'm pretty sure I'll be worm food before then. (or 137)
Here's something I made in 2024.
That's a good point, we are more like the "steerage class".
An image of Gregg Phillips, the current head of FEMA
And image showing former President George W. Bush and former FEMA director Micheal Brown, looking at a map during hurricane Katrina.
There seems to be no limits on the amount of crazy in the administration.
This is Gregg Phillips, and when he's not teleporting into a random Waffle House, he will be running FEMA!
And Hell, silly me thought "doin' a heck of a job, Brownie" would be the low point of that organization.
An image of the band playing as the Titanic was sinking. There is a caption that says "Sometimes it feels as if we are like the band on the Titanic, just trying to stay calm and keep everyone entertained, while the whole damn thing is sinking!"
Kinda makes ya wonder if the reason they are so anti-abortion is because they are worried it will cut into the pool of potential victims.
I had to rewatch this, after I got to the end, for something I missed the first time around.
This guy is so far right, even his sideburns slant that way!
(There's no ALT text for videos, but his right sideburn is a full ear height different than his left sideburn)

It's a good thing that we have something like SNL to help us laugh at the absurdity of the world we are trapped in.

Of course I like those movies today.
I think a lot of drive-ins (at least in my area) would run 2 movies, 1 for family/kids and the other more for the adults, thinking kids would be asleep by the second feature.
