Morrowind is better in that the world is completely hand crafted and gives you the most pure yet playable rpg experience. Later games are more polished but have significantly less rpg depth and require less player engagement in the world.

Thats not going to happen any time soon sadly. These companies aren't interested in small returns and they only invest in single player experiences to keep a market presence These days. I'm pretty sure they only make hardware because cloud gaming is such a miserable experience atm

Single player games don't make as much money thats why. The likes of Sony are willing to gamble the odd $400 million here and there on live service games because the potential returns are in the billions.
