Oh this is exactly what I’ve been looking for for my project. Never heard of Letta, will be trying it out

He sounds so sad, I almost feel bad for him
OpenAI has some work to do here, especially with the buzz around Groq
Excited to try this out. It seems that most of the foundation models companies are battling it out at the user client level of the stack. Wouldn’t be surprised to see an OS soon!
I’m actually really excited to see these new hardware companies come out, both domestic (US) and abroad. The dominance from NVIDIA is restricting
I cant wait until there’s real competition with NVIDIA for ML development. ROCm could do it if AMD would put any real effort behind it.
The current near monopoly with NVIDIA for realistically all AI seems incredibly dangerous.
Really impressive performance for the price, I’m hoping they follow through with their open sourcing plans in June
There’s still quite a bit of research being done in reinforcement learning for LLMs now that we’re hitting a soft data wall. I’d be surprised to hear that this move is because of AI
It seems like there’s a lot of talk about an AI “arms race” between nations, especially recently with Stargate and DeepSeek.
The more important distinction is closed source and open source, and the actual moat of closed sourced models. I’m personally excited to see how we can push open source AI
DeepSeek R1-zero is insane. Really good at reasoning and the least censored LLM I’ve used.
The fact that it’s trained via purely with reinforcement learning is super interesting too, countering the assumption that reasoning requires chain of thought
Getting back on Blue Sky after primarily trying mastodon for the last year. The UX is night and day.

After 4 years in WA, finally had the chance to backpack the Enchantments. Absolutely brutal up Asgard Pass, but well worth it
They really need a way for users to only see posts by the people they’re following. Main problem I had with IG was all the posts by random ppl I had no interest in
Just tried Threads and the majority of the posts I see are from accounts I don’t even follow. Not great.
Same. I escaped from 100+ in SoCal to 90+ in Seattle with no AC 😭
It looks like they’re trying to copy TikTok while I just want to quickly choose a song
Yeah just started it last night. Really good so far - the novels it’s based is the Wool trilogy by Hugh Howey
Is there any "branding" yet around what LLMs have done to web application development?
I'm less interested in the "AI changes everything!" rhetoric, and more in the "cacheing has moved from x to y; delegated auth is harder because z; scaling and load balancing needs new patterns a, b and c".
Just got to CA, and somehow it’s wetter than Seattle? 🥲
The few times I have to travel to work is brutal. Makes me wonder how I had any free time before.
Feeling the pain of people who want this to be a better place. Who have only had the experience of being on a rented platform that they have no stake in.
Start planning to run an instance. We “live” online, so consider it a digital barn raising. Gather a crew, raise funds, decide on structure.
normalize being nice and friendly. and giving other people the benefit of the doubt. and listening to what they have to say
I’d be interested to read this. I imagine decentralized development of the protocol would’ve made it much harder to get to market.
Are there plans to eventually transition to decentralized protocol development?
Still love Mastodon but the onboarding process is…not ideal

Fyi, Bluesky has a web app! It's https://staging.bsky.app For an MVP it works great and is pretty functional.
Kudos to the Bluesky team!
SkySpaces is now on BlueSky!

From my limited understanding of AT protocol vs ActivityPub - AT protocol will allow me to transfer my account, including existing followers and follows, posts, etc. while ActivityPub essentially forces me to create a new account (I save my follows but lose followers).
Is that right?
Would love to try this as well - also curious how you got started building on top the protocol
long term, with fully portable user accounts, your continued use of our services would be a vote of confidence in us. not a hostage situation where you lose all your friends and creations if you leave.
this is set up to be a federated republic, not a walled-off empire.
What a breath of fresh air coming from the bird app - looking forward to seeing where this goes
