I can't help but think about it every time I see those things. At least when I'm at the beach and the navy or air force are doing test flyovers, you can look up and see the wings are unloaded (they don't run the F35s) but man, battleships? ALWAYS PACKING.

OMG SO JELLY
Every time I think "it's going to be a jumbled pile this time" it's like BAM, it's Suzuka Circuit 🤣
F1 track or random rubberband placement from Motorsport on the bad place.
Wild to think about it would be trivial for those things to hit your car at that range 😬
And now, I promise we won't have to do any more highway lessons before we get the bearings replaced.
Pinky promise.
Pls don't asplode bearings before Tuesday 🤞
A white Escalade decided to do the dick move "late pass" on the on-ramp to 355 at 1am and p much passed me using the shoulder
lol
lmao
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED🕶️
He tried to outrun me and when we hit 100mph+ he lost his nerve and got gapped aaaahhhhh ha ha ha haaaaaaaa
GET THAT WEAK SHIT OFF MY TRACK
Absolutely amazing on an IMAX screen/sound system.
Now to hope the Mach 4 doesn't shake itself apart on the drive home 😬
Heck yes!!!!
The sound peaked my 90db watch warning.
Finally got to feel the finale in my chest.
Amaze Amaze Amaze!!!!!
One of the foreign announcers of the Grand Prix finale from Speed racer, who is screaming SPEED RACER GO with a massively elongated "go" as he launches across the finish line in first place
Seated for Speed Racer IMAX.
About to be SPEED RACER GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO foreign announcer lady
Will I get choked up and misty as soon as Spridle says "he's gonna do it!"?
Signs are all pointing to yes.
YESSSSSSSSSS
I’m at 10:15, about to put a fresh shirt on and start driving over there now
CANNOT WAAAAIIIIT
Nice! Surprised to hear it's 100% neural/machine learning I figured the tip would be too difficult to fully track that way and they'd use a flashing LED marker.
Also figured the reflective optical mocap was training data. I was so close!
You tell that adorable boi EVERY deer is his to bark at!!!
They do something similar in the research promotional video, when the touch is scored pixels explode from the touch point in the victim's back 😅
I need to watch everything they have on display, but, as someone who has been involved with video game mocap shoots with identical mocap hardware for two and a half decades now, I never trust b-roll with people wearing mocap suits, lol.
But the fact the monitor says "pris de ferr" and there is a pretty textbook pris de ferr (sp?) on display makes me think they are training a machine learning system to recognize fencing here. You would then apply that to a non reflective capture system for live competition, most likely.
It's still the most accurate kind of optical mocap (sub millimeter precision), but your weapon would absolutely get snagged on the markers during competition. You'd also need to stop every time one came off and recalibrate. Also bad for competition.
The six blue cameras show is also sus?...
Two fencers wearing traditional reflective optical mocap sensors on their uniforms, blades, and helmet. There are six potentially blue ring mocap cameras on a wall behind them.
So in shots like this, this is for either training data for the machine learning in the system, or just for show. I can explain :D
They are wearing traditional optical reflective mocap sensors here. GREAT for super accurate mocap for science or video games. VERY BAD for competition...
I absolutely love the visualization being used and I sincerely hope it gets more people watching fencing, but as a once pretty decent fencer, if you're watching the tip you're watching the wrong thing.
Gotta watch their hands/forearms primarily, and then body/head position.
The tip is "too late" 😬
If they use IR frequencies on the tracking LEDs, they'll be invisible to the competitors (which is what you'd want). The rest of the electric scoring is standard competitive fencing gear, no modifications needed; their visualization system would just listen to the scoring system to find out who won.
Ex-college Fencing Club President and professional mocap tech here. If I had to guess, they're using a unique LED flashing signature on each foil tip, tracked by optical cameras. The Lames (silver jackets) are previously designed to take thousands of touches and register an electrical connection...
Check out a first look at Disney’s ASL re-animated songs from 'Encanto,' 'Frozen 2,' and 'Moana 2,' coming to Disney+ next week. The studio reworks key musical sequences using performance-driven signing.

Star Trek
Jonathan Frakes: "I think, sadly, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of our incredible franchise, it seemed very unfortunate that they’ve chosen this moment to not have any new Trek in production. It seems like a very unfortunate irony."
VERY COOL PERSON: It's four-twenty, you know what that means?
ME: Hell yeah! [starts shoving blackbirds into a pie]
Media literacy lately:
"Here's 5 things you may have missed in Hail Mary":
1: it's in space
2: there's a rocket ship
3: it goes whoosh
4: it's a movie
Sleep.
Absolutely incredible.
NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.
Watch with sound on.
If I could have the ability to grant anyone one superpower, it would be every time anyone clicks a "not now" button and a "no" button is not obviously available, the person in charge of that decision would feel 1 (ONE) kick to the groin.
Just had my 16yo kid walk on my back and it sounded like an explosion.
(I feel better)
